The period property, in the charming village of Hackforth, sleeps six guests and two furry friends. The village has a woof-friendly pub, as well as some great countryside walks. Further afield, the market town of Bedale is 4.5 miles away, where you’ll discover elegant Georgian buildings and beautiful riverside walks. Step back in time with a trip on the Wensleydale Heritage Railway (5 miles), where you and the pups can chug through the gorgeous Yorkshire countryside.
The cottage has bags of character, with rustic exposed beams and fabulous stonework. The cosy lounge has a roaring wood burner to snuggle in front of, either watching a film or playing traditional board games. There’s also ample room in here for the woofers to make themselves at home. Rustle up a tasty meal in the country-cottage style kitchen, before enjoying an evening of laughter and great food around the large dining table. Outside, the front garden catches the morning sun and is the perfect place for a quick coffee before the day begins. To the rear, there’s an enclosed garden with a lawn where the hounds can play, as well as seating and a BBQ.
It’s easy to spend a few hours pottering around the traditional Yorkshire town of Bedale. Admire the elegant Georgian buildings and historic market square, before grabbing a bite to eat in the paw-friendly pub and strolling along the pretty Bedale Beck. Thorp Perrow Arboretum and Gardens (6.5 miles) is a great choice on a hot day, with plenty of shade for your hairy friends. Within the 100 acres you can see some of the rarest and largest trees in England, as well as collections from around the globe. After a woodland walk, refuel at the tearoom, where four-legged visitors are welcome in the outdoor seating area.
