In the heart of the Cairngorms National Park and just 3 miles from local village Grantown-on-Spey, this cosy cottage is the perfect rural retreat for your little family or group of friends. Sleeping four guests and welcoming two four-legged chums, you won't have to leave anyone behind at this Scottish getaway. While away the days exploring the rugged Cairngorms countryside together before heading home to your holiday cottage to rest up for the next day of adventure.

The property maintains a traditional countryside aesthetic throughout, offering a comfortable and homely space in which to unwind. On sunnier days you can make yourselves at home in the pretty conservatory, while tails will wag with excitement at the sight of red squirrels, pheasants and hares bounding through the private garden.

When the weather turns, look forward to a cosy evening in the lounge. Light the open fire and sink into the sofas, enjoying a cup of tea or a wee dram in front of the TV. We've no doubt your furry friends will rush to curl up in front of the fire with you, dreaming of long walkies and days of chasing squirrels through the hills to come.

The surrounding Cairngorms National Park offers an abundance of outdoor activities, including the famous local Munro of Ben Macdui (25 miles). Let Rover take the lead and embark on this challenging hike, a rewarding day out for the entire family. This rural area is famously a Dark Sky Discovery Site, and the local village of Tomintoul (18 miles) boasts amazing views of the wonderous dark night skies. Dogs and children alike will adore a midnight adventure and coming home to an open fire and warming drink makes the perfect midwinter excursion. On temperate days, you can wander 3 miles down to nearby Grantown-on-Spey and visit the dog-friendly local pub for a pint of the local ale and a bite to eat.

Great walking in area, but not from door, however only a 5 minute drive to Grantown. Not sure what level of privacy a previous reviewer wanted, while a very minor road went past the house the nearest neighbours were a few hundred yards away. We loved our week in this cottage. The garden is enormous, both dogs thoroughly enjoyed exploring it all. So many good dog walks close by as well. The cottage itself was a great size for us, one dog is a Great Dane and space was not an issue at all. Watching the hares playing in the field, the pheasants in the garden and the deer down in the valleyRead more was a delight. We have already recommended it to friends who have seen our holiday photos and asked where it was. Hide

An excellent family orientated cottage situated for outdoor exploring. Cairngorms almost on the doorstep and Moray coast less than an hour away. Really enjoyed the view from the cottage and cozy fire should the evenings grow chilly.

Other reviews mentioned issues with flies. This is a real problem that needs addressed. Every morning there was a new batch of dead flies on the kitchen and bedroom window sills.
