This riverside property in the Peak District allows you to take a walking holiday in some of the UK’s most breathtaking scenery – without your four-legged friend having to leave your side. With space for eight people plus one dog, it’s just the thing for a group of friends or a large family. A beautiful brook running alongside the house leads into the market town of Bakewell. This is part of a wider river network that takes in the beautiful River Wye, presenting opportunities for long waterside walks which will be adored by humans and canines alike.
The house has a spacious feel to it with a good-sized kitchen/dining area. There’s a cosy lounge with sofas to sink into after a long day out in the fresh air. If you’re too excited for bed, you can all play board games late into the night while your hound curls up next to the gas wood burner. Outside, there’s an enclosed patio with picnic benches, a grassy area and a BBQ – ideal for enjoying lunch alfresco or spending evenings in the fresh air as a group.
The village of Bakewell has shops, cafés and a number of dog-friendly pubs where you can sip a pint while chatting to the locals. You’ll certainly want to try the famous Bakewell pudding while you’re visiting – maybe you’ll sling a crust to Fido if he’s been good. On your doorstep, you’ll find a range of walking and hiking options to suit all ages, abilities and doggy preferences. Monsal Dale, a picturesque valley and with a great choice of walking trails, is 3.5 miles from the house – here you can explore a listed viaduct over the River Wye and wander along a former railway line as your canine runs on happily ahead.
