This traditional countryside cottage for two has ample space both inside and outside, and enjoys the best of both worlds with the popular attractions of the Jurassic Coast also within easy reach.
This picture-perfect stone cottage is a beautifully peaceful base for a couple on a rural retreat with their four-legged friend. Adjacent to the owner’s farmhouse, the cottage is set within a working farm, and there are several footpaths for you to sniff out which weave their way around 175 acres of land. You’re at the heart of the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, making it ideal for walkies with your canine companion.
Step inside and straight into the bright and airy open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. There is plenty of space for your hound’s best bed and comfiest cushion, so once they’ve polished off their dinner they can curl up, and you can concentrate on preparing a romantic meal for two. Eat together at the table, and discuss ideas for tomorrow, using the Wi-Fi to search for must-see local attractions. Afterwards, get cosy in a soft seat in front of the Smart TV. At the end of the evening, give your dog a fuss behind the ears, and head upstairs to the pretty king-size bedroom for a good night’s sleep. In the morning, make your dog’s day by dining alfresco in the spacious garden just a few steps from the front door, reached via a small bridge across the mill stream. While you take a seat on the decking, they’ll be playing in the sun on the large sloping lawn. Keep an eye on any curious canines who may take an interest in the stream.
There are two nature reserves nearby, Loscombe (1.5 miles) and South Poorton (2 miles), where Lassie can enjoy on-lead walks through wildflower grassland and steep-sided valleys. Practise your doggy-paddle in the waves at Cogden Beach (7.5 miles), where your pup can sink their paws into sand and shingle all year round. Explore Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens (12.5 miles), then stop off in the coffee shop where waggy-tails are welcome.
