The ideal family space for two dogs and their four lucky humans, this country cottage in Crosthwaite is bursting with character. Sandwiched between the historic town of Kendall and England’s largest natural lake, your whole tribe can enjoy all that the area has to offer. Trace paths through Fell Foot Park with your dogs in the lead and tuck into a picnic by the lake. Look out for local wildlife in Whitbarrow National Nature Reserve and hike the Cartmel Fell Tarns walk for unbeatable views, before returning to kick back and relax.

Come in through the front door  into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. With exposed wood beams, original features and a creamy colour scheme, it is full of traditional charm and is a relaxing space throughout the day. Home to comfortable seating and a TV with DVD player, the lounge is a welcome place for tired legs and paws to unwind whilst the kitchen is ideal for cooking up tantalising dishes. With mouth-watering aromas wafting through, take a seat around the dining table and share tales as plates clatter and glasses clink. With a final play in the garden for your four-footed friends, take in the last glimpses of daylight over the Lythe Valley beyond before heading upstairs to bed. On the first floor, you will find the two bedrooms and the bathroom with a shower over the bath.

For culture, shopping and food, travel the 6.5 miles to Kendall. Home to the family- and dog-friendly Kendal Castle, you can learn all about the area’s rich history. For serious walkers, the Kentmere Horseshow (or Kentmere Round) starts 9.5 miles away in Kentmere hamlet and leads you across 13 miles of paths past some of the country’s most spectacular scenery.

The Cottage is a great little find. It's Cosy, but has everything we needed for a week's stay in the Lakes. We are a family of four with a dog and we had no problem fitting in the place. The steps / small door to the garden would be a challenge to someone who's unsteady, but you can get round the side. When we arrived there was one dishwasher tab, Read more3 laundry tabs, some instant coffee, cooking oil spray and a pint of milk. The nearest shop is a good drive, so do take anything else you might need. Hide

Lovely cottage in a perfect location. Great views and walks from the minute you step outside. It's in a quiet location but very easy to get to Windermere, Kendal, Keswick. The Punch Bowl pub is a 2 minute walk away and well worth a visit as is The Black Labrador PH that's less than 2 miles from the cottage. The cottage itself has everything you neeRead mored and more and is pleasure to return to and relax after a day travelling the lakes. We'll definitely be back. Hide

Very friendly and helpful great for our 2 dogs only 2 problems we had were the door to the garden is only a large window which proved difficult for my wife and father-in-law to get through. The lounge area only had seating for 3 but it would be difficult to regig the space and still have room for the dinning table. This said I am not complaining orRead more trying to put people off just being honest. The facilities provided are second to non and we had a great time and would go back with no hesitation 5* Hide

We had a lovely stay at Middle Bank. The cottage had everything we needed and the hosts were very accommodating. The garden was great for our dog. The location is lovely - quiet village outside of the very touristy parts of the Lakes but within easy distance of most places we wanted to go. Highly recommend!
