Located in an idyllic elevated position on the outskirts of Lostwithiel, overlooking the upper reaches of the River Fowey. A perfect base for a relaxed Cornish break at any time of the year.

Take a riverside break at this spacious holiday home, your springboard for discovering the delights of southern Cornwall. This lovely property is located 8 miles from the Polperro Heritage Coast and 6 miles from Bodmin Moor, opening up plenty of opportunities for long, doggie-pleasing walks through the stunning Cornish scenery. The house, set in an elevated position in pretty Lostwithiel, has room for up to eight human and two canine guests – ideal for a big family gathering or team-building weekend among colleagues.

This property’s reverse-level layout maximises your enjoyment of the surrounding views. The inside is decorated in light shades, with wooden furniture and artwork and ornaments inspired by water. Spend quality time with your fellow guests in the lounge/kitchen/diner, perhaps watching something on Netflix while the beasts warm their fur by the wood burner. On milder mornings, take a hot pot of coffee out onto the elevated patio, where you can absorb the stunning vistas while you sip. Be sure to explore the beautiful tiered garden, bursting with trees, shrubs and quiet places for the dogs to snooze in the shade.

Lostwithiel is a pretty town with several independent shops to buy souvenirs in. The nearest pub is just a couple of streets away from the house and dogs are most welcome – the proprietors here even keep a jar of doggie biscuits especially for their four-legged guests. For a dose of history, visit Restormel Castle, just north of the town, (1 mile), where your pets are welcome to join you as long as they stay on their leads. If doggies are in especially energetic moods, take them for a walk along the River Fowey, which runs through the town, or to the nearby Cardinham Woods (6 miles).

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

If you’re a history buff, you’ll be delighted to find the wonderful Restormel Castle right on this property’s doorstep. Built in the late 13th century, this circular castle was a luxurious retreat for its medieval owners. It’s also a wonderful picnic spot. You should also grab the opportunity to visit the gardens and woodlands at Lanhydrock Victorian country house and estate in Bodmin (5 miles). Beach bums should head for Par Sands (9 miles), a lovely beach on the Cornish Riviera that offers a large expanse of firm sand backed by the dunes. The adventure junkies among you can zip line and base jump to your heart’s content at the Eden Project (7 miles), while more chilled-out members of your party can stroll the Rainforest Canopy Walkway or explore the Mediterranean Biome. And fans of the TV show Poldark can explore the famous port of Charlestown (7.5 miles).

The house was everything I wanted it to be ...away from other people, spacious enough that one could have a chill zone, beautifully arranged , decorated and equipped and in a very good location.

We fell in love with this cottage the moment we walked in. The well equipped open plan kitchen diner was great for family meals. We enjoyed the views from the lounge and the bedrooms were very comfortable. The steps up would not suit the infirm.
