The perfect coastal getaway for family or friends, featuring sea views, a bustling town and a beach - Whitby has something for everyone.

This Victorian property, with views over the marina, sleeps ten guests and two furry friends. The house is perfectly placed to explore the rugged North York Moors; hop on a steam train (0.5 miles away) with the woofer and majestically cruise through the Esk Valley. Alternatively, stride out along one of the many coast paths to find hidden smugglers’ bays and a vast array of wildlife.

The terraced property is decorated in a contemporary style, with plenty of home comforts for a relaxing stay. The house is approached up seven steps and features a glorious terrace, where you can sit with a glass of wine and watch the boats bobbing in the marina. The property has two lounge areas, providing ample room for you all to spread out and find your own peaceful spot. After a windy clifftop walk, curl up with a cuppa and a book in the first-floor lounge, whilst admiring the fabulous waterside views. Why not grab some local seafood and dine alfresco on the terrace? The area is fully enclosed, so Rover and Fido can happily potter around, hoping for a tasty morsel to fall to the floor!

Whilst in Whitby you and the pups must visit the spectacular abbey (less than 2 miles away). Allegedly the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula, the imposing ruins are quite something – especially at sunset. Take the 199 steps that lead to St Mary’s Church, and marvel at the breathtaking views over the town. From here, there’s a wonderful walk you can do along the cliffs and past Saltwick Bay. Step back in time on a steam train to Goathland (of Harry Potter fame), in the heart of the North York Moors (8.5 miles away) and enjoy a delightful 3-mile walk to Mallyan Spout waterfall.

The house was perfect for a family group. It was spotlessly clean and looked newly plastered and painted. The furniture was pleasant and there were no fussy ornaments or pictures so we could relax about the grandchildren! The house is in a quiet road with great views from the upper storeys and we were amazed how quiet it was when it was just a ten Read moreminute walk to all the "activities" of Whitby. The kitchen was bright and well stocked with large pans, serving dishes, cooker and a large fridge. Hide

Lovely house in the perfect position - close to everything in Whitby and easy to get out to explore the county. Very clean, superbly comfortable beds and living space. They have a smelly drain problem which they say theyre trying to sort which wasnt very pleasant but otherwise we were very happy.

We had a super time at Esk Terrace. Plenty of space in the house for big group at meals and Christmas games in the the upper lounge. Enough rooms for people to do their own thing when needed. Quirks that you can expect in an older property, which were easy to live with and give the place character. Dog bowls provided and Xmas decs - thanks! Great location for family holiday, mostly very good property, but with few defects that will hopefully be resolved when repainted in Nov 2021. On our stay, there were a few items missing or awaiting repair that was slightly disappointing. But still had a great holiday.

We would definitely stay here again. The location is perfect. Parking a little tricky. Two cars at a squeeze. Property spacious and adequate for what we needed. Owners are very helpful and accommodating and live nearby if any difficulties should arise. We would recommend this property in a heart beat!!

This property is in a dangerous and disgraceful state of repair. We arrived to find 2 broken windows on the upper floor bedroom with a 'Please bear with us' notice next to each one. There are numerous other 'Bear with us' notices in the property and a whiteboard in the kitchen listing other known issues including a badly leaking roof in the kitchenRead more. Some repairs were finally made on the 6th day of our stay after numerous contacts with the owner and booking agent. Do not book this property. Hide
