This two-bedroom converted barn on a working organic farm with private hot tub is ideally located between the Yorkshire Dales and the Yorkshire Moors. Your canine companion will love scampering along paths through the picturesque rolling landscape of James Herriot country with its drystone walls, meadows and field barns.
The semi-detached barn is accessed via a designated route through farmland, past hens whose eggs you are invited to enjoy over breakfast. You’ll love the period features including stone flooring and exposed beams. Cook up some Yorkshire puddings with local lamb in the well-prepared kitchen after spending the day exploring the scenic countryside of what locals call ‘God’s own country’, while your canine companions snooze by the wood burner. Later on, treat yourself to a quick dip in the hot tub in the enclosed garden before winding down for the night in this cosy holiday home with underfloor heating. This barn is one of four properties on the farm and all four can be booked together to accommodate 24 guests if needed.
Moor, coast, forest, dale: it’s all within a 10-mile radius, and you’re only 7 miles from the traditional market town of Thirsk - referred to in the James Herriot books as Darrowby - with its cobbled market square and Victorian architecture. Four-legged and two-legged walkers love Thirsk for its easy trails along the banks of the Cod Beck River with dog-friendly stops along the way. From Thirsk, it’s 11 miles to the impressive ruins of dog-friendly Rievaulx Abbey, whose centuries-old stones encapsulate the turbulent history of the area. The Yorkshire Dales National Park is 10 miles west of the property and the North York Moors National Park is just 5 miles east: both are dotted with picturesque stone-built villages, castle ruins and walks through beautiful landscapes that are quite simply doggy heaven.
