This charming cottage, situated just 1 mile from the centre of the pretty village Godshill, is ideal for a countryside retreat – and there’s no need to leave the dogs at home! Sleeping four across two welcoming bedrooms and with plenty of space for up to two canine companions, it won’t be long before you’re up and about exploring the footpaths and bridleways accessible directly from the property. Pop to Appuldurcombe (3 miles) or join the Stenbury Trail down to Ventnor Beach (5.5 miles).
The property, which is one of a few cottages on a working farm, is spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is fresh and bright and overlooks the other pretty farm buildings, while the open-plan living area is a relaxing haven to spend time in during the evenings. Curl up on the sofa in front of the TV or with your favourite book, the pups snoozing by your feet. Upstairs, the bedrooms offer a tranquil place to slumber; wake up among wood beams and lots of natural light before heading downstairs to take in the lovely views of open fields from the rear of the cottage. If you fancy eating breakfast alfresco, there’s a sunny patio at the front overlooking a delightful fountain.
Just metres from the cottage is an open lawn area that’s perfect for ball games with the hounds as well as BBQs; if you visit during late April and early May you’ll spot carpets of bluebells which are a sight to behold. Further afield, Ventnor Botanic Garden (5.5 miles) has 23 acres of subtropical plants and trees to discover, while Robin Hill Country Park (5 miles) is home to some of the island’s biggest rides and dogs are welcome to enjoy the 88 acres of open space here.
