  • A perfect location for families and couples to explore the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley
Property code: 75596

Sitting among a woodland wilderness in the Wye Valley (an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and the Forest of Dean, this cottage gives you a taste of country life. It’s perfect for a family or friends who love exploring by bike or on foot, with walks from the door and storage for your bikes. Plus, there’s an enclosed garden for everyone to enjoy.

The house has an effortless chic vibe, with plush velvet sofas and a wood burner for cosy evenings in, a big, homely, cottage kitchen and a separate dining room. It’s got four bedrooms, so lots of space for extra guests or if the kids want to take friends away, and a handy downstairs bathroom, as well as a second bathroom on the first floor. The welcoming bedrooms have the same laid-back style and comfortable furnishings as downstairs. On warm days, you’ll want to be outside in the garden, lazing in a deckchair or cooking dinner on the BBQ – it’s lovely and private sitting on the hillside surrounded by trees.

Any dogs in the guest numbers will have a whale of a time as there are lots of walking and cycling trails in the Forest of Dean; you can also fish nearby in the River Wye, which runs through the bottom of the village, or launch a canoe from ‘The Tump’ on the banks of the river – also a great spot for a picnic. The nearby rail line has been turned into a trail and forms part of the 136-mile-long Wye Valley Walk. There’s a super 3-mile circular walk along the river from Lydbrook to Symonds Yat East starting on the east bank. There’s a village store, a fish and chip shop, a takeaway and two pubs in Lydbrook, where canine companions are welcome. If you need a town, Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye are about 7 miles away and Coleford and Cinderford about 4 miles.

Lydbrook Cottage is delightful. Spacious, comfortable and stylishly decorated. All the rooms are airy and bright. The outdoor space is cleverly arranged. The house is on quite a steep hill but there are two ways to access it, either up a drive or steps which run alongside the property. It sits in a quiet village, that has a shop, pub and fish & chiRead morep shop. Lots of beautiful walks are easily accessible with lots of public footpaths in the surrounding the area. A lovely stay - 10 out of 10! Hide

This was our second stay at the property. Such a home from home. The Forest of Dean and Wye Valley are easily accessible for long or short walks. We will be back again.

Lydbrook cottage was charming, spacious and tasteful, well-equipped and comfortable. The descriptions and pictures do not do it justice. Would not recommend it to anyone who struggles with steps or slopes but otherwise wonderful.

Beautiful cottage, with the perfect decoration, every tiny detail is worth admiring. Location is great in Dean forest and wye valley not far from the bracon beacon and Big pit mine. Plenty of nice walks, even from the cottage through the fields. We had amazing vacation and our teenage kids really enjoyed it too.

Lovely girls weekend in Lydbrook cottage - very comfortable and stylish home. Gorgeous evenings in front of fire chatting and catching up. Comfortable beds, fabulous shower and great location to get out and do things. We went to Gloucester quays and new hunt tack shop on Saturday and did Go Ape and lunch out on Sunday. Would recommend!
