A beautiful, detached Victorian-style villa which has been tastefully refurbished with a contemporary feel, situated in the hamlet of Colvend on the outskirts of the seaside village of Sandyhills.

On the outskirts of the seaside village of Sandyhills is this detached Victorian-style villa that sleeps four plus one canine companion. Perfect for bikers, golfers, sailing enthusiasts and of course walkers on both two and four legs, this is a fabulous base from which to explore Dumfries and Galloway. When you’re not splashing in the sea or exploring the forest that joins Colvend with Dalbeattie, dine alfresco in the tiered garden or curl up with a good book beside the wood burner while your pup snoozes happily at your feet.

Bright and airy, this tastefully modernised period property offers plenty of space for the whole family to spend quality time together. Cook and dine in the bright and open-plan lounge/kitchen with its large roof skylights and modern appliances, while your faithful friend warms up in front of the roaring wood burner. A separate lounge with electric fire and Smart TV offers an alternative space in which to relax after a busy day, while enjoying views towards White Loch. Or, for those warm evenings, the garden is a peaceful place to sit out with a glass of wine while the dogs and children play safely nearby. A first floor king-size bedroom offers beautiful rural views.

Known as The Secret Coast, this is a stunning area of Scotland with plenty to offer every type of outdoor enthusiast, especially the four-legged variety. This area is also a haven for wildlife, with red squirrels, dragonflies, sparrowhawks, peregrine falcons and oystercatchers all frequently spotted nearby. Pack a picnic of sandwiches and dog biscuits and head for Rounall Wood (7.5 miles), looking out for roe deer along the way. Head for Rockcliffe (7.5 miles) or Sandyhills beach (4.5 miles) for a splash about on the sand, or climb Mark Hill (7.5 miles) to watch the boats coming and going. After a busy day, pop to one of the dog-friendly pubs in Rockcliffe or Dalbeattie (7.5 miles) for a restorative bite to eat.
