Head to this gorgeous, thatched cottage in North Devon and take a pair of pups with you for the stay. This chocolate-box, one-bedroom, holiday home in the village of Chulmleigh sleeps two people and makes a perfect romantic retreat for any dog-loving couple. Open the front door to this character cottage and find yourselves immediately in the cosy, open-plan kitchen/lounge. Fire up the wood burner, switch on the Smart TV or play tunes through the Bluetooth speaker while your canine companions make themselves at home. Whip up treats in the kitchen area then sit down to eat in the dining room while the pups soak up the sunshine out in enclosed courtyard garden. Dine out here yourselves on warm days on the table and chairs provided. As night falls, follow the cottage-style stairs up to the delightful, king-size bedroom, complete with en-suite bathroom, with claw-foot bath. Enjoy the privacy of the cottage garden, with its handy door for your furry friends. Find parking for one car at the cottage.

Head out from home on any number of long or short walks through your scenic surroundings. Drive approximately 15 miles to pick up the Tarka Trail. Venture 11 miles to the edge of beautiful Exmoor or 12 miles to Dartmoor National Park. Follow a section of the 180-mile trail with the dogs by your side. This foot and cycle path crosses North Devon and Exmoor and includes a stretch, between Braunton and Meeth, which is the longest, traffic-free bike route in the UK. Have a day out on the long, sandy beach at Westward Ho! (27 miles), with its sections where your pups can be off their leads at any time of the year.
