The country-style kitchen has everything you need to cook up a hearty meal, while exposed beams and inviting sofas in the lounge beckon you to sink back in front of the wood burner while the pup lazes by your feet. The pretty window seat by the dining table makes it the perfect spot to eat breakfast or even read a book in the sun. At bedtime, head up the cottage-style stairs and snuggle under the sheets in one of the delightful bedrooms – just watch your head in the eaves!
Discover a variety of plants from all over the world at Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens (9 miles), where your canine is welcome too, and follow the sculpture trail or hunt for the children’s play area. Forde Abbey House and Gardens (15 miles) is also home to some stunning flowers and plants, and there’s even a children’s guide to the house that older children will enjoy. Sniff out clues on a mystery treasure trail that starts in the centre of Dorchester (14.5 miles), then stop for a well-deserved cup of tea and a cake at one of the many dog-friendly cafes.
