Steeped in history, this character cottage is within easy reach of the stunning Jurassic Coast and the vibrant town of Bridport, or why not simply relax beside the fire before visiting the village pub

This beautiful thatched cottage, situated less than 4 miles from the South West Coast Path, is perfect for you and your guests – including the four-legged member! Sleeping three across two homely bedrooms and with plenty of space for the pup to snooze, you could all soon be enjoying walks along the shingle Eype Beach (5 miles) that has wonderful views across the inspiring Jurassic Coast. And when you’re ready to go home, stop off at the local pub opposite the property for a tasty meal.

The property, which dates back to the 1740s, is cosy and comfortable. The country-style kitchen has everything you need to cook up a hearty meal, while exposed beams and inviting sofas in the lounge beckon you to sink back in front of the wood burner while the pup lazes by your feet. The pretty window seat by the dining table makes it the perfect spot to eat breakfast or even read a book in the sun. At bedtime, head up the cottage-style stairs and snuggle under the sheets in one of the delightful bedrooms – just watch your head in the eaves!

Discover a variety of plants from all over the world at Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens (9 miles), where your canine is welcome too, and follow the sculpture trail or hunt for the children’s play area. Forde Abbey House and Gardens (15 miles) is also home to some stunning flowers and plants, and there’s even a children’s guide to the house that older children will enjoy. Sniff out clues on a mystery treasure trail that starts in the centre of Dorchester (14.5 miles), then stop for a well-deserved cup of tea and a cake at one of the many dog-friendly cafes.

Lovely clean, well equipped and comfortable cottage. A number of added extras, fresh flowers, delicious cakes and fresh milk in the fridge upon arrival all of which made our stay even more perfect. Location was good just a short drive from Bridport, the village of Lodders is peaceful and the pub opposite very friendly.

Libra Cottage is absolutely lovely. It was warm and spotlessly clean when we arrived - with coffee, tea, milk and delicious cakes in the house. The location is perfect for walking and hiking.
