This stunning cottage, situated just 1 mile from the picturesque village of Godshill, is perfect for your family – including up to two furry members! Sleeping four across two cosy bedrooms, it won’t be long before you’re up and out discovering the Isle of Wight’s pretty beaches, including Bembridge (12 miles) which welcomes dogs all year, and Sandown (6 miles) which has some restrictions. And if you’re visiting in the spring, you can stay closer to home and see the beautiful carpets of bluebells in the grounds between late April and early May.
The property, which is located in a small complex of properties on a working farm, is a charming farmhouse-style delight. The open-plan living area is bright, with comfy sofas to curl up on in the evenings, while the dining table faces a large window to allow in lots of light. Upstairs, the bedrooms lend a peaceful feel to your stay; they make the most of their barn roots and embrace the exposed stone walls to remind you that you’re in the heart of the countryside. Wake up and head out to the patio overlooking a beautiful fountain and scoff a tasty al fresco breakfast while the pups stretch their legs.
Wander along the footpaths and bridleways directly from the cottage that lead to Appuldurcombe (3 miles) and the Stenbury Trail down to the Ventnor coast (5.5 miles). Take in the superb panoramic views and see if you can spot wildlife such as buzzards, red squirrels and owls. Visit Ventnor Botanic Garden with the whole family and discover the 23 acres of subtropical plants and trees. Kids and canine companions will love Robin Hill Country Park (5 miles); some of the island’s biggest rides are here and there are 88 acres of space to run around in.
