This superb property, located in Bembridge in between Seaview and Sandown (both 4.5 miles), is perfect for a large family or group of friends – including the four-legged one! Sleeping up to nine across four fresh and bright bedrooms, it won’t be long before you’re off to go and see the lifeboat at the RNLI Lifeboat Station (half a mile) and then on for a walk along the beach, that welcomes pups all year. But if you fancy an afternoon at home, the relaxing south-facing garden is a spot of tranquillity to while away the hours with an al fresco drink.
The cottage, which has its own expansive driveway, is spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is fresh and bright with a contemporary twist on the farmhouse style, with a large range-style oven that will feed the whole family. In the evenings, retire to the cosy lounge that has pretty coastal touches; sink into the sofas with your feet up in front of the wood burner, the hound curled up next to you. When it’s time for bed, everyone will find a room they love – kids will enjoy the bunk bedroom that also has a single bed (the bunk beds in this room are suitable for children only), while the doubles are peaceful and decorated with the sea in mind to lull you to sleep.
Bembridge has plenty of little cafes to grab a spot of lunch in after a morning at the beach. The Heritage Centre (half a mile) is also worth a look at with inquisitive children, as is Dinosaur Isle in Sandown (4 miles) where your canine companion is welcome on their fossil walks. Appley Park (7 miles) is a great place for a family day out playing fetch and enjoying views across Ryde; on good days you might even be able to spot Spinnaker Tower over in Portsmouth.
