This peaceful woodland setting in the east of the island offers spectacular views across the Yar Valley. The property used to be part of the famous Knighton Gorges Manor that once occupied the site but is now a standalone holiday home. Sleeping up to ten people and two dogs, it’s perfect for large families or a group of friends who don’t want their pets to miss out on the fun. Your canine companions can befriend the local wildlife, which includes rabbits, pheasants and even red squirrels.

This impressive stone cottage has shuttered windows, giving it the feel of a French farmhouse. The light and spacious lounge is a lovely place to kick back after a day of exploring and stick chasing. If the weather is warm and sunny, throw open the French doors in the dining area so the furry ones can come in and out as they like. There’s another lounge up the open staircase on the first floor, with beautiful views down the valley, where you can watch TV or teach an old dog new tricks. The bedrooms are spread across both floors, giving you all plenty of space to spread out. The canines will love exploring the cottage’s extensive grounds. There’s a fenced garden at the front, while gateways lead from the garden to pastures grazed by pet sheep that will eat out of your hand.

Being in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the cottage is a fantastic base for walking with direct walks from the doorstep and with footpaths criss-crossing the island and leading down to the River Yar. The charming village of Newchurch is 1.5 miles away and has an excellent dog-friendly pub. The east coast is within 5 miles, with its choice of sandy beaches, including Sandown. This beach has some restrictions in summer, but a stretch of the nearby Yaverland Beach welcomes canines all year round.

  • 5 bedrooms - 2 double, 3 twin

  • TV/DVD in lounge
  • TV in second lounge

  • Wi-Fi included - due to the rural location the Wi-Fi can be very intermittent
  • 2 dogs welcome - dogs must be kept under strict control when outside of the property as the owners have sheep on site
  • Beaches of Sandown, Shanklin and Ryde are an easy drive away. The village of Newchurch is 1.5 miles away

Great space for a family gathering and the location is lovely. Feeding the pet sheep was a highlight!
