Stay at this beautiful converted barn in the Taw Valley in Devon for a relaxing holiday with your family and pets. With the river running right past the bottom of your garden, you’ll be perfectly placed for enjoying the charming countryside and wildlife. It’s just 12 miles from Dartmoor and 20 miles from Exmoor, opening up huge opportunities for doggy-pleasing walks through the vast open moorlands and deep river valleys of these national parks. The property can accommodate up to four people and three dogs, so it’s perfect for a family trip or holiday among friends.

This lovely stone barn has been lovingly restored in a contemporary style, with the original wooden ceiling beams still intact for you to admire. In the entrance hall, leave wet boots and wipe muddy paws before heading into the kitchen for a well-earned cuppa. The enclosed garden is a lovely spot for soaking up the surrounding views while the dogs run around together. To wind down before bed, curl up with the dogs in front of the TV.

You’ll be in a lovely rural spot, with the nearest pub 3 miles away in Chulmleigh. Dogs are welcome here, and there’s a garden offering lovely views over the mid-Devon countryside. Head to Whiddon Down (12 miles) to access walking and cycling trails through Dartmoor National Park. If the dogs are demanding sea air and sandy beaches, bundle them in the car to Westward Ho! (28 miles), a charming coastal town which is perfect for a day trip.

This cottage was perfect. Exactly what we were looking for. A lovely, quiet and private location with amazing walks along the Tarka Trail directly from the front door and a secure garden for the dogs. Be very careful with the driveway if you have an estate car - it's very steep and the car easily grounds out.

We have never returned to a previous holiday cottage but made an exception for Kingfisher cottage and are glad we did. We love the quiet isolation and it has all the comforts we need for us and our two Yorkshire terriers.

A lovely location and very close to the Tarka Trail so didn't have to drive anywhere the whole week. The weather was fabulous and we were able to eat most meals in the garden, so great to have table & chairs. Thank you for a very relaxing holiday!

Absolutely loved our stay at Kingfisher Cottage. It was really clean, well equipped with great facilities. The dogs loved the secure garden and the local walks. Our daughter appreciated the garden too, and the swingball set! We would definitely book again, sad to leave but grateful to have had such a lovely relaxed break. Thank you

We absolutely loved our stay. Truly dog friendly - large, fully enclosed garden and access via the fields to the River Taw. Weve rented many holiday cottages over the years but this one has to be up there in terms of quality, attention to detail, equipment, stunning views across the fields/wooded valley and a truly rural, tranquil location. Beautifully equipped and comfortable cottage. Very dog friendly. Really quiet location with lovely countryside views. Beautiful cottage. Very peaceful location. Very well equipped. Very cosy. Very friendly owners. Vast areas to explore with your dog. Travel required for areas and places of interest, but the beauty of the area made up for the remoteness. Would happily recommend and happily stay again.
