Sheltered by a bend in the River Tweed, Kelso boasts some brilliant canine-cordial pubs, independent shops and eateries, such as The Blackadder, The Waggon, The Cobbles and the BeerCraft shop, which stocks gorgeous local goodies. Majestic Floors Castle and Gardens (5 miles) also welcomes hounds to its extensive grounds. A network of walking, cycling and riding routes expands all around the lodge. The paths around the Kelso trail take in Morebattle (5.5 miles) and Yetholm (6.5 miles), and the Kelso to Roxburgh (6.5 miles) trail follows the Borders Abbeys Way beside the Rivers Teviot and Tweed.
