Situated on the outskirts of the charming village of Hawkshead, this beautiful traditional cottage makes a picturesque base for a couple or a family keen to explore this breathtaking part of the Lake District. Offering light, cosy and relaxing accommodation for four guests and two pet dogs, the cottage retains original features including a wood burner, stable door and exposed wooden beams, and is a wonderful spot for exploring Windermere and Coniston.

This charming cottage offers a snug and welcoming lounge with a beamed ceiling, a wood burner set in a fireplace, plenty of seating, a TV and a DVD, making this an ideal spot to relax in at the end of a lovely day. You can enjoy preparing and sharing all your favourite family meals in the bright and attractive kitchen/diner which has an original stable door opening out onto the garden. Two delightful bedrooms can be found on the first floor – a restful double room with plenty of storage space, and a cosy twin room with lovely rural views. Outside, the beautiful and unusual woodland garden has slate paths winding through the trees and features two chairs carved from tree stumps. There’s also a large patio with outdoor furniture so you can sit back, watch the dogs play and admire the stunning countryside views. Off-road parking is available for two cars.

Lying at the head of the magnificent Esthwaite Water and with a number of dog-friendly pubs offering refreshment, Hawkshead is a fabulous base for dogs and their owners. There are miles of wonderful walks in this idyllic area, with highlights including Tarn Hows (2 miles) and Claife Heights (5 miles). You can also accompany your dogs on trips across Windermere, on steam railway trips or in the grounds of Wray Castle (3.5 miles) and Grizedale Forest (3 miles).

Lovely cottage quiet location but close enough to the village 15 minute walk. Few minor issues but it is a rental cottage in the Lakes and you do no get perfection, walm and cosy and the porch was handy for the 2 weeks of rain we had along with the drying cupboard and electric airer.

Lovely cottage, in a good location, it was just perfect for the two of us. The welcome hamper was delicious, all locally sourced produce - a great showcase for the area. Really enjoyed the walk across the fields to Hawkshead village with the fantastic views of the surrounding landscape.

Really enjoyed our stay. Great location, only a 5 minute walk across fields to the village, although walking in sheep muck was unavoidable. Good outside porch to keep mucky boots in but could do with an outside tap to help clean them up. Great enclosed garden, but small dogs would be able to escape though gates. Superb cottage, clean, well appointed and homely. Location is beautiful with lovely walks in the immediate area. Lovely short stroll into Hawkshead across fields giving the most amazing views. During our visit there were lambs in the field adding to the overall beauty. Area outside cottage is lovely for dining being in the shade late afternoon and Read morepleasantly cool on hot days. Lovely warm cottage we enjoyed with our working cocker spaniel during a very wet March week. So cosy you don't really notice the bad weather outside, and the drying cupboard was a great idea, so useful to get everything ready to go for the next day. One thing to note - if you have a small dog it's likely that the garden may not be secure for them iRead moref they like to investigate, our particularly small spaniel could probably have gotten out. We loved the cottage, the location was amazing and the views stunning. It was so cosy and had everything we needed. The 10 minute walk into the village was nice either across the fields or by the road. This is our third time in the cottage we love it , lovely location very quiet and peaceful .The weather was very wet but we still enjoyed our stay . The cottage is warm and comfortable very clean and good quality furnishings . This is the perfect cosy cottage to stay in if you like a beautiful quiet location but not be more than a short walk away from the village pubs and shops. We had a brilliant stay in Keen Ground Cottage. The cottage itself was well maintained, comfortable and modern where you want it to be. The drying cupboard particularly useful after days out on the lakes getting wet. Especially useful the smart TV, being able to log into our own Netflix accounts helped with tired kids after a full day out. There weRead morere 4 of us + medium size dog all fitting comfortably. Fab cottage in a beautiful village, great location. Loved walking across the sheep fields into town in the mornings for fresh bread. My only negative is i booked the cottage because i thought it had an enclosed garden,in which i could let my dog roam free...it is enclosed but the gates are quite wide , my dog is knee high and escaped most days thouRead moregh the gate...so i could not really relax with him out there...saying that i would still go back id just have to watch the dog when he was outside.
