Set beneath the picturesque Dorset Downs down a quiet lane, this charming country cottage is an excellent base for families or groups and up to two of their canine companions. Keen walkers, cyclists, and their stick-loving friends will love exploring the many scenic routes that run directly from the property, so make sure you pack your walking boots!
After a day of exploring, rest your aching feet and paws beside the open fire in the cosy lounge, cup of tea (or perhaps glass of wine) in-hand. Spend the evening enjoying a relaxed family meal in the open-plan kitchen/diner, as you make plans for the following day beside the warming wood burner. Cottage style stairs lead to three cosy bedrooms, while outside in the shepherd’s hut you will find another double bed and a wood burner - an ideal spot to curl up when the cool evening air draws in. On warm evenings, enjoy the large enclosed lawn that wraps around the cottage, and relax in the garden furniture as you watch the sun set.
Both Dorset and Somerset are easily explored from here, so you will never run out of places to visit and things to do. Enjoy a beach day at West Bay (21 miles) or Lyme Regis (30 miles) and breathe in a dose of fresh sea air, or browse the weekly market at nearby Sherborne (8.5 miles). Bridport (19 miles) and Yeovil (13 miles) are also close by, but why not head 5 miles south to the National Trust’s famous Cerne Giant - the ancient naked figure sculpted into the chalk hillside above Cerne Abbas.
