Property code: 86462

A fabulously well-designed shepherds hut, set in the heart of the South Hams, with an array of coastal towns and beaches close by.

Surrounded by quaint coastal villages and sublime stretches of sand, this beautiful little log cabin sleeps two people in one bedroom and welcomes one faithful friend. Wonderfully quirky and undeniably romantic, it’s the perfect country retreat for couples who want to explore the untamed beauty of the South Hams with their trusty pup by their side. You’ll adore the magical ambience of this character property, and your canine companion will love the freedom to explore the property’s enclosed orchard off-leash.

Upon entering this adorable shepherd’s hut from the steps, you will immediately find yourself in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining/sleeping area. Cook up a romantic meal for two in the compact kitchen area and dine at the fold-up dining table. Alternatively, head outside to the garden at the front of the hut to fire up the BBQ and dine alfresco. After dinner, relax with a drink in the fresh country air, let your pup run free in the enclosed orchard, or cosy up with your loved one in the cabin’s living area. When it’s time for bed, you’re sure to enjoy a good night’s sleep in the hut’s sleeping area. In the morning, you can enjoy country views from under the duvet.

Wake up and take your pup on a refreshing morning stroll at Beesands Beach (2.5 miles), which welcomes dogs all year round. Afterwards, stop off in the village pub for a pint (it’s very dog-friendly) or take a pleasant 1.5-mile walk into the neighbouring village of Hallsands, where pups are also welcome on the beach all year round. Further afield, pack up a picnic and take your pup with you to explore Dartmouth Castle (11 miles), one of the most beautifully located fortresses in England.

We did enjoy our time here. The mattress was an issue... it felt thin with little support. Access/movement was difficult on/off the bed... probably our own limitations did not help. I really enjoyed my stay at Ivy shepards hut. It was super clean and so comfortable. It was great for my dog to have the freedom of the orchard also and not have to worry about him disappearing. Enjoy a truly off grid break in lovely remote location, which me & the dog loved. Bring a good book, your own wine and switch off. Theres tea, milk & scones on arrival - nice touch. Fenced in space is another dog friendly bonus.

Had a lovely stay, was lovely, quiet and private. We enjoyed our stay and would happily stay again. The owner popped over to make sure we was ok and that was our only contact, which was perfect for us. The welcome gifts were amazing and delicious. If you want to quiet escape this is the place for you.

What a beautiful and tranquil place to stay. The hut (seems a very unfair term for something so nice) is lovely with everything you need. Really well thought out and nice touches like the a cream tea, milk, tea and coffee. It is small but more than big enough for 2. At 6 2 the bed was just right for me but if youre taller you cant sleep flat out. WRead moree stayed for a long weekend and took trips out to the coast for walks, coffee, ice cream. Will would definitely go again. Hide
