Escape to this single-storey humble abode where tons of charm and light open spaces invite you to unwind and relax of an evening as vibrant market towns keep you busy throughout the day.

This charming property, situated outside Crickhowell just half a mile from a dog-friendly pub, is perfect for a romantic getaway for two – and the dog! Sleeping you both in a peaceful double bedroom that’s decorated in tranquil blue tones, you’ll soon feel refreshed and ready to get out and explore the Blaen y Glyn waterfalls (14 miles), Pen y Fan (20 miles) or Waun Fach (14 miles). And when it’s time for a rest, you can head back to your cosy base to sit and relax looking out at wonderful views of the Usk Valley and beyond.

The property, which is conveniently located on the A40 with easy access to Abergavenny (7 miles) and Brecon (13 miles), is bright and airy with lots of rustic charm. The open-plan living space is filled with light, but becomes a cosy haven in the evenings where you can snuggle up on the sofa or in an armchair as the pup snoozes by your feet. Exposed beams and brick paired with a wood burner separating the living and kitchen areas give the place a country-cottage style feel, while glossy surfaces and delicate lighting in the kitchen bring a touch of the contemporary. Spend summer evenings sizzling up a BBQ on the patio, enjoying al fresco drinks until sundown in the company of your pup.

Hire a boat for the day from Beacon Park Boats (2.5 miles) where the dog will love looking out at the wildlife as you glide down the canal. Dogs are also welcome to accompany you to discover the history of the Blaenavon Ironworks (11 miles); pair your trip with a ride on the Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway from High Level Station (11.5 miles). If you want some inspiration for short dog-friendly walks, the Brecon Beacons National Park Visitor Centre (18 miles) is a great starting point and there’s even a tearoom for a bite to eat.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

The perfect cottage for a week away with our dog. Everything you could need to use in the kitchen was available and of great quality. Large fridge freezer and good appliances. Bright and spacious with plenty of room to relax in all rooms. The view from the windows was stunning especially at sunset. The enclosed garden was perfect for the dog and shRead moree loved to watch the chickens. Location is great for the local town and plenty of walks to reach by foot and close by in the car. Hide

Stunning peaceful location with wonderful views. The cottage was however let down by several details. The information pack was very poor and contained limited information ie. no details on recycling which is surprising in todays environmental conscious world. The TV was way too small for the lounge and there was no remote for the DVD player so Read morewe were unable to play the DVDs we had brought with us. The cottage was very warm and uncomfortable to sleep in so we had to open the bedroom window at night which wasn't ideal due to the high winds and rain. It was not possible to regulate the heating. There was no dish cloth or scourer for washing up. We would not return to this cottage. Hide
