Overlooking the picturesque village of Llanigon (1 mile) this is a wonderful base for walkers exploring the Wye Valley and the Brecon Beacons National Park. Hay-on-Wye, known for its literature festival and wide range of antiquarian and second-hand bookshops, is within easy reach just across the fields. Splash about at Llangorse Lake (12.5 miles), or further afield visit Tretower Castle (17 miles) friendly to dogs and children, and Arthur’s Stone (8.5 miles), a Neolithic burial site, where dogs are welcome on a lead.
