Brimming over with rural charm, this remote cottage sits at the end of a lane on the fringe of Butterton Moor. Offering spectacular vistas at every turn, this converted barn offers a real taste of country life. Sleeping four people over two bedrooms and welcoming two canine companions, it’s a fabulous accommodation option for small families or groups of friends who want to get away from it all and explore the wild beauty of the Peak District National Park with their trusty pups by their side.
The simple, elegant decor allows this converted barn’s impressive original features to shine through. Step into the spacious country-style kitchen/diner and you’ll find everything you need to cook a memorable meal for your nearest and dearest. Dine around the large dining table, or head outside and dine alfresco. After dinner, retire to the spacious lounge, which features a vaulted ceiling with exposed beams. Binge-watch your favourite TV shows while your pups snooze contentedly in front the wood burner. When the day is done, make your way up to the mezzanine that overlooks the living area. From there you’ll find two gorgeous bedrooms with exposed beams.
Put your hiking skills to the test on the rocky formations at The Roaches (8.5 miles). At the top, let your pups take a dip in Doxey Pool, which is said to be inhabited by mermaids. From there, you’ll be able to see all the way to Mount Snowdon on a clear day. If you’re not in the mood for a big climb, catch a cable car to the Heights of Abraham (19.5 miles). Dogs are welcome in the cable cars as well as the restaurant’s covered balcony.
