Comfortable cottage and quiet, which is exaclty what I wanted. Lovely to be able to sit outside front door by the gently flowing small river. Could walk through the farm and even chatted to the farmer, who was very pleasant. On two days cattle were right outside the cottage. So perfect setting for quiet stay away from buslting town.

Fantastic location. Access to big farmers field on site; ideal for dog walking off lead. Our spaniel loved it. Pleasant cottage. Really quiet and relaxing time. Lots of interesting places to visit within 25 minutes driving time e.g. barnard castle , hamsterley forest, durham city centre. Quaint shop & cafe onsite as well.

Photographs deceiving for outside space. Looks as though courtyard is for sitting in but actually for car parking. All weeds in front of stream and outside just looked uncared for. Patio doors were taped up, not sure why, so couldnt be used. Bed comfortable and very quiet location. Cottage generally okay but things like oven need checking before chRead moreangeover. Hide

Heron Cottage was easy to find, comfortable, warm and well located for a holiday centred on Weardale and the wider County Durham. It was very peaceful too.
