Enjoying an idyllic countryside location within walking distance of village amenities, dogs and their owners will have a ball exploring the many walks and trails accessed straight from the doorstep. With two bedrooms, this is the ideal location for families to enjoy a relaxing holiday in the heart of the Peak District. Four-legged guests can sniff out the best shady spot in the courtyard garden and enjoy a good romp around the adjacent field.

Go mutts for this enchanting converted barn with traditional features and comfortable accommodation where two and four-legged guests can relax and unwind. The living area is light and airy with cosy sofas and warm rugs. Your pet will never feel far from your side as you prepare a meal in the open-plan kitchen. Upstairs is a cosy double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a twin bedroom with separate family bathroom with shower. Remember to pack your dog’s favourite blanket so they can curl up in comfort at bedtime. Outside is a pretty patio area where you can share a sociable al fresco meal or early evening drink. A charming walled garden adjoins the property and your hound will love spending time running around the adjacent field.

Step out of your door and pick up the Monsal Trail, a lovely traffic-free path which goes along disused railway lines and through well-lit tunnels. Visit Thornbridge Hall (1 mile) to discover the 12 acres of formal gardens, including the Koi lake and sculpture trail; stop for a light bite in the café which serves excellent craft beers produced in the Hall’s own brewery. Further afield, visit the National Tramway Museum at Crich (10 miles) where the whole family, including your canine companions, can ride the vintage trams and stop off at the woodland walk or the sculpture trail to stretch their legs.

Lovely place with plenty to offer, the cottage is well situated with easy access to tea room, two inns and a store. With public paths right next to your doorstep you can hit the trails right away. The cottage is cozy, clean, fully equipped and prepared even for a muddy season, beds are comfy and table big enough to play more demanding board games. What a lovely little cottage in a small yard with three other properties, yet secluded if you wanted privacy. This was just perfect for us to walk the White Peak Way (84 miles) with two friends. The cottage was everything and more what we expected, enabling us to unwind and relax comfortably in the evenings. The owner popped over to check all was oRead morek but was otherwise unobtrusive, yet on hand if needed just across the field. We will definitely be booking again. Hide

Nothing was too much trouble for Sarah, the owner. She responded to our requests and suggested good pubs in the vicinity. Wed certainly stay here again.

Had a lovely week and were blessed with gorgeous weather. The little village of Ashford in the Water is extremely pretty and has a pub, cafe and village store. Able to walk to Bakewell easily and lots of beautiful walks in the area. Our daughter joined us just for the weekend so the only suggestion is that another armchair is required for 4 people Read moreusing the property. Hide

Great location, easy walk into the village with its friendly pub. Lots of other walks on the doorstep, including a circular walk to Bakewell, we barely used the car. Chatsworth farm shop is well worth a visit for supplies. Dog friendly although care is needed - there were cattle with young calves in the adjacent field so we avoided using the footpaRead moreth which runs through it. Not ideal for a party of 4 adults - could do with another armchair Hide

We had a really nice short break in this cottage Good location to get to all the places we wanted within half an hour. Loads of parking and safe play space for our 2 year old. New bathrooms were good too. Wi-Fi was good too.
