This quaint coastal holiday house blends stylish décor with traditional charm – all a very short distance away from the seashore. The whole of the ground floor, which once made up two 18th century fishermen's cottages, has been opened out to make a large single room that's full of character. Sleeping six people over three bedrooms and welcoming one four-legged friend, it's the perfect bolthole for a seaside getaway for a group of friends. And with an enclosed garden for your pup to roam free in, you can be sure that your furry friend will be happy too.
Step inside and you'll find a large kitchen/sitting room/dining room, a splendidly atmospheric space that's been created out of what was once two old fishermen's cottages. Cook up a storm for your friends in the kitchen area or head out to the small garden with your pup. Designed over a number of levels, the enclosed garden is a great spot for sunbathing or dining al fresco while your dog runs free. At the end of the day there are two bedrooms on the first floor and one bedroom on the second floor to choose from, as well as a sofa bed on the mezzanine level, if you have an extra guest. Enjoy the perfect end to a perfect day as you fall asleep listening to the waves crashing on the shore.
Take your pup for a lovely stroll at the dog-friendly Billow Ness Beach (1 mile), a small, sandy bay just to the west of Anstruther Harbour that's part of the Fife Coastal Path. As a recent recipient of a Seaside Award from Tidy Britain, you can rest assured the beach is clean and the water quality is excellent. Alternatively, head to Balmerino Abbey (23 miles) to explore ruins of the 13th century Cistercian monastery. Also look up Pittenweem for some great coastal walking prospects.
