An idyllic retreat set within a peaceful village in the Yorkshire Dales, offering a tranquil getaway and set close to a number of bustling cities and towns waiting to be explored.

This exquisite cottage in the tranquil village of Marton-le-Moor in North Yorkshire is the ideal rural retreat for families and their furry friends. Situated between the Nidderdale and Howardian Hills Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and near to the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks, two-legged and four-legged guests will be spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing picturesque ‘walkies’ with breathtaking views. There are also plenty of local towns and villages nearby, which all boast history, beauty and independent shops/eateries.

This property is as attractive on the inside as it is on the outside; its French country-chic décor blends with traditional touches, contemporary design and a neutral palette to create a unique, but classy, style. On entering, you will find yourself in the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. The focal point of the lounge area is its wood burner, which makes it feel cosy and comfortable. The kitchen/dining area is well-equipped and spacious allowing plenty of room for socialising. Upstairs, there are two pretty bedrooms (one king-size and one twin) with an en-suite bathroom and an en-suite shower room. Outside, there is a delightful, enclosed courtyard garden with dining furniture.

With walking trails on your doorstep, there’s no need to stray far, but further afield, the cathedral city of Ripon (5 miles) has a Thursday market, coffee shops, pubs, restaurants and a nice collection of independent shops to explore. For history, there are lots of castles and historic buildings nearby including Ripley Castle (11.5 miles), but you’ll have to give Fido a rest day, as dogs aren’t allowed in the grounds. For something different, visit the National Trust’s Brimham Rocks (14 miles) where you can stroll around or climb on the fascinating rock formations. For a taste of city life, visit Harrogate (15 miles) and York (23 miles).

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Beautiful cottage in a fabulous location away from it all but close enough to great walks and amenities. Lovely touch from Wendy of roses, wine, chocolates and treats for the dogs.

Fig Tree Cottage is the perfect place for a quiet, relaxing stay, with comfort and character. Beds are very comfortable, and bedrooms have a lovely view over farmland. Patio is a lovely place to sit too. We were pleasantly surprised by the location, which is actually at the edge of the small village, and easy therefore to access and enjoy. (We thouRead moreght it would be more remote.) It's a short car drive to Ripon and Boroughbridge too - for any shopping or cafes. Wendy is a super host too. Hide

This is really a lovely cottage. Warm, cosy and comfortable. Cottage sleeps 4, but there was only 2 of us and our dog so there was plenty of room in the open plan kitchen/diner/living room. Both bedrooms are of a good size and both have an en suite bathroom so no sharing necessary if you are a party of 4. The cottage was equipped with everything neRead moreeded, but is just a short drive to a number of pubs and restaurants, so we felt no need to cook. It has a secure garden so ideal for dogs. Hide

Lovely cottage in a good location, very peaceful but near to many places. Well equipped & comfortable with everything you could need. Garden is rather small for 3 dogs & isn't very secure for them, small dogs could probably escape through the fence or gate

Lovely cottage very clean very quiet & rural so must have a car, lovely walks for the dog. Owner very friendly, dog and us made very welcome, lots of tourist attractions within a 4 mile radius including ripon and our only recommendation is central heating must be accessible by holidaymaker for winter lets and not set and fixed. Would think its a peRead morerfect cottage in summer and tweaked heating system in winter for the price would make it better value. Hide
