A traditional yet spacious property situated in a peaceful position down a quiet county lane in a beautiful village location, with large fully enclosed gardens, close to Scotland’s capital.

Set in glorious countryside close to the River Esk, this light and spacious lodge offers impressive holiday accommodation for two dogs and their six humans. Bathing in natural light, the single-storey lodge would be a perfect base for walkers, cyclists and keen students of Scottish history, with a bounty of natural and urban landmarks to explore in and around the fringes of the capital city. Well-appointed and tranquil beyond compare, the lodge enjoys four acres of grounds perfect for exercising dogs.

After arriving in the reception hall, guests will soon find the welcoming lounge, an area which enjoys views of the wraparound gardens through French doors; the ideal place to watch a film or engage in long conversations into the evening with a glass of wine in hand and wood burner crackling in the hearth. The AGA in the kitchen will be the source of many a warming family meal enjoyed in the adjacent dining room, its piano sure to tempt the more musical members of the group. Guests eager for some quiet time with a good book during the day can warm themselves next to the wood burner in the snug, or in one of the lodge’s three bedrooms: two en-suite twin bedrooms with garden views and an en-suite king-size bedroom with further garden views. The landscaped gardens are punctuated with trees, shrubs and flower beds, an ideal setting for al fresco dining throughout the day and for stargazing at night, with its adjacent paddock the ideal space for energetic dogs.

The picture-postcard village of Lasswade (1 mile) offers dog-friendly inns and eateries, while Glen Country Park (4.5 miles), has an array of woodland, weir and riverside paths to suit all paws. Ardent walkers can also explore the beautiful Pentland Hills (5 miles), while the stunning city of Edinburgh boasts a wealth of dog-friendly attractions, including Calton Hill, Princes Street Gardens and Arthur’s Seat.

  • 3 bedrooms – 2 twin zip-and-link beds (which can be made into super-king-size beds on request) and 1 king-size
  • 3 bathrooms – 2 en-suite bathrooms with shower over bath and WCs, 1 en-suite shower room with shower and WC and 1 separate WC

We had a fantastic time at the lodge. It is a large property and each bedroom has an ensuite. The large garden wraps around the property and was perfect for our Bearded collies.
