Studio accommodation, set within a semi-detached property, a perfect escape for a couple looking to explore the Lake District on foot or bike. With the lovely village of Threlkeld within walking distance and walks available from your front door.

This delightful accommodation is the perfect base for a romantic getaway with your loved one and favourite four-legged friend in the heart of the Lake District National Park. You and the pup can set off on a multitude of walks from your doorstep, including to the nearby village of Threlkeld (1 mile away), with its traditional pet-friendly pub.

A couple of steps lead to the stable door of this pretty stone bothy, and inside you’ll find studio-style accommodation. The property’s layout has been carefully considered to maximise space and ensure you have everything you need for a comfortable stay. After a day out on the mountains, return to your warm and inviting pad and snuggle up on the sofa in front of the TV. Rover will adore the underfloor heating that will warm his dog bed and create a cosy spot to curl up in for the night. As you sip your morning coffee, throw open the stable door and admire the beautiful views over St John’s in the Vale.

There are several routes to the summit of Blencathra, the mountain that watches over Threlkeld. However, if you want a walk that’s not too tough on the paws, try the Scales Fell path. It starts in Scales, 10 miles away, and follows a grass ridge that requires no scrambling. It also takes you across Mungrisdale Common, where the hound can burn off some steam. The magnificent mountain forest at Whinlatter (10 miles away) has nine walking trails, as well as a cafe with outdoor seating and a picnic and BBQ area. It’s a great place to walk your four-pawed companions on a hot day. For a relaxing stroll, head to Derwentwater (7 miles away), where there’s a 10-mile flat route that circumnavigates the lake, taking you through ancient woodland and along the shoreline.

Broken underfloor heating means its impossible to cool down. Great location, clean and tidy. Wi-Fi is a really weak connection. Shower and bathroom small but really nice.

Lovely location for a walk up and around Blencartha. Very small space in the bothy so not ideal for a relaxing stay indoors, but absolutely fine for a place to sleep and get refreshed.

Basic accommodation only really suitable for a couple of nights. I would not consider it dog friendly as no secure outside space for a dog.Lead only to a strip of grass opposite. As others have stated you can hear people above and next door.
