Enjoying an enviable location in the heart of a valley, this stylishly finished cottage is the perfect getaway, set within acres of established gardens and farmland.

Set within acres of established gardens and stunning countryside, this stylish cottage is the perfect romantic getaway. Sleeping two humans and two dogs, explore the rolling hills of the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, before returning to your beautiful home-from-home to meet the friendly neighbours capybara, reindeer and zebra, just to name a few, all live on the grounds surrounding the property, and benefit from the conservation and rescue work that the owners do. Please note the private animal rescue sanctuary is not open to the public.

Relax in the cosy lounge area, with Fido sprawled out on the dark wooden floors, and appreciate the restoration of the property, with painted stone work complemented by thick handwoven curtains. Rustle up a tasty meal in the bespoke kitchen area, with views across the grounds, before sitting down to eat around the solid wood dining table. Say goodnight to Rover and head upstairs to soak tired legs in the large wood-panel sunken bath before sinking into the sumptuous king-size bed. Step outside for morning coffee and enjoy a pastry with views across the gardens and onto the valley from the table. Watch a content pooch sniff around the enclosed garden before heading out to explore the shared grounds and outdoor pool.

Let Fido take the lead on the 4.5-mile sculpture trail in Coleford (9 miles) or visit the ruins and grounds of Goodrich Castle (4.5 miles) and let Mutley sniff hundreds of years of history in every room with you. Descend into the dog-friendly Clearwell Caves (12 miles) that have been formed by underground streams which have been mined for iron ore as far back as Roman times. "

Idyllic, beautiful location, so peaceful, and perfect for exploring the Wye Valley. Dexters Den has its own private garden that backs onto to paddocks and the Serval enclosurewe were in heaven to be greeted each morning by horses and Zak the Serval. We were completely blown away by this wonderful cottage and grounds. The owners Lyndsay and Frank are amazing We cannot recommend staying at Dexters Den enough, it truly is a breathtaking experience. The weather was on our side so we got to use and enjoy the swimming pool as well as seeing some of the rescued animals. Amazing location felt like we were on safari watching the animals. It was so quiet and peaceful. Dexters den perfect inside and out. Garden with 3 seating areas was so good. We managed to eat every meal but one outside. Enclosed garden was perfect for our dog Bessy. Very nice hosts. The cottage was superb and had everything you need. The big bath is also great. The location is amazing with frequent views in the garden of lots of animals. The shared sitting area at the front of the house was also amazing. It's very close to great places to visit. Highly recommended.

Lovely location and very friendly owners, If you have a dog be warned about wild animal smells and sounds. Our dog was very anxious there. Cottage well appointed and the Wye Valley is stunning

If youve never given a capybara a back scratch then this is the place for you. A lovely relaxing cosy cottage ideally situated for exploring the Wye valley.

Lovely area, very welcoming hosts. smaller than it looks in the photo's. Quality fittings although not suitable if you have bad backs or joint problems. Had difficulty climbing in and out of the bath and fell twice! Note, no shower. Sofa is very low seating. Animals fab though. Wifi and TV reception sporadic and no phone signal. We cannot tell you how much we enjoyed our stay at Dexters Den, it was wonderful. The garden was great for both us and our dog, the cottage was like home from home. There are not enough words to describe this wonderful place. The wild animal rescue on the site makes it truly unique. The sight of zebra, reindeer and wallabies in the fields is your first view, followed by a welcome from very vocal monkies as you get out of your car, when you then notice the family of kapibara grazing, oblivious to your fascinatiRead moreon with them.
