Charming private wing of a magnificent Scottish Baronial Mansion, perfect for a romantic getaway. Located amid beautiful, landscaped gardens within easy reach of the historic town of Langholm.

Enjoy the excellent walking and hiking routes on your doorstep; outdoor enthusiasts on two and four legs will love exploring the Southern Upland Way and the Reiver Trail. Sleeping two plus one canine chum, this romantic retreat is welcoming and cosy after a day in the great outdoors. After grabbing a quick pint at the local, dog-friendly pub, return with windswept hair and fur to discard muddy boots and wet coats in the useful boot room, before heading upstairs to the lounge to relax on the comfy sofas, as your canine companion stretches out at your feet.

Elegant yet homely, warm wooden floors and pale carpets complement cream walls giving a sense of space and light. Cook up lazy breakfasts and romantic dinners in the bright kitchen before retreating upstairs for a film night. Wake in the stylish bedroom to lovely garden views before enjoying a morning coffee in the beautiful, landscaped gardens as your pup scatters the dew with that first, morning roll. The perfect place to enjoy a spot of al fresco dining; sizzle up some sausages and perhaps a few dog treats on the BBQ in the evening, relaxing with a wee dram under the amazing dark skies.

Spend an afternoon exploring the independent shops, friendly inns and eateries in the ‘Muckle Toon’ of Langholm (2 miles) before getting tails wagging discovering the excellent walking opportunities with waymarked routes through the surrounding hills. Enjoy walkies along the famous River Esk and enjoy a day out at Talkin Tarn Country Park (24 miles), a lakeside recreation area for sailing, fishing and windsurfing, with woodland trails for your pup and a tea room for you.

Nice welcome pack of homemade scones jam and cream with milk and chocolates plus dog treats. Good walks from the local town and close by. Nice pub meal at Cross Keys Canobie approx 5 miles away

Just had a wonderful weeks break at what we consider a 5* property which is set in outstanding scenic surroundings. The apartment contained everything needed and with the bonus of a variety of shops only a short drive away. The covered shared courtyard is a big plus especially if the weather is not so good. However we were fortunate to have a dry wRead moreeek and took full advantage of the quality barbecue. We will be returning. Hide

We loved staying in this beautiful cottage. Well equipped with everything you may need. Soft fluffy towels and lovely linens on the bed. Stylishly furnished with a cosy atmosphere in the lounge which is up stairs. The owners are extremely friendly and available if needed but you feel very relaxed and private in the cottage. The grounds are beautifuRead morel and visited by lots of birds including kites. We would definitely stay again. I would say that a car is essential. Cant recommend too highly. Hide

This is a lovely place to stay and is even better in person than the photos show. It is beautifully decorated and furnished and very spacious for two people. It's a couple of miles from Langholm where you can find everything you need for short stay. The owner, Jan, could not be more hospitable. What a beautiful place this is. We stayed for 7 nights with our 11 month old daughter we had plenty of room for the travel cot in our bedroom. It was so easy to find, the owners really friendly but also left you alone. Langholm is just a short drive away but you have so many walks right on the doorstep. It's peaceful and would be amazing in winter Read moreas well. I would highly recommend even if you just want somewhere to unwind just the two of you. 10 out of 10 from us. We were looking for a comfortable place to stay, in a peaceful location, and Courtyard Cottage was exactly that. The cottage was beautifully presented, with everything we needed for our stay. The location is wonderfully quiet with amazingly dark skies for star gazing. The town is just a couple of miles due the valley, with a small selection of shopRead mores and a takeaway. Good internet access meant we werent totally cut off. We highly recommend Craigcleuch for a relaxing holiday. Hide
