Apart from a restriction on the first section of the beach during summer months, the vast majority of Woolacombe Beach is dog friendly. The beach is a surfing hotspot, so why not take to the waves whilst your faithful friends excitedly splash along the shoreline? A dramatic clifftop walk takes you along the coast to the pretty town of Ilfracombe. Here you can potter around the cute independent shops and galleries, and sample some of the delicious local produce in the popular restaurants. It’s also home to Damien Hirst’s impressive Verity statue, which stands tall over the harbour. For a relaxed evening of great food, head over to Barricane Beach (1 mile away) and devour one of the exceptional Sri Lankan curries that are served from the cafe on the beach (season and weather depending!).
