This beautiful period cottage on the outskirts of York is the perfect spot for a family holiday with your beloved pet. With plenty of outside space, there’s lots of room for frolics and fun. The Yorkshire Wolds and North York Moors are both easily reachable by car for when it’s time to take your terrier on a long walk she’ll go mutts for. The house accommodates up to four humans and one canine guest.
The inside is spacious and comfortable, with a cosy lounge and an open-plan kitchen/diner. Relax on the sofa with your fluffy hound warming your feet on the floor or enjoy a game of Monopoly as a family. The living area gives access to a walled patio with a gate, the other side of which is a leafy path leading to the main garden. Here you’ll find a charcoal BBQ for cooking up feasts, tables and chairs for eating, plus a large lawn, trees and a summerhouse. All the outdoor areas are enclosed; perfect for keeping your over-excitable pup free from harm – he’ll love exploring the various nooks and crannies then running back to you for strokes behind the ears.
The house is in Elvington where you’ll find a village green, quaint cottages and a dog-friendly pub where you can enjoy a pint in the evening. The River Derwent, a few minutes from the house, is ideal for pretty walks that’ll take you through fields and quiet farm tracks – an absolute must if your four-legged friend likes getting wet! The Howardian Hills (16 miles), an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is also fantastic ball-throwing territory. Take the family to the walled city of York (8 miles) if you’re all craving a historical day out.
