This pretty lodge nestles in a small complex of similar properties conveniently close to Dartmoor National Park, offers an array of creature comforts including a luxurious hot-tub, and is a lovely retreat for families or couples alike.

This cosy property, situated 2 miles from Okehampton, is ideal for you and your guests – including the canine family member! Sleeping four across two peaceful bedrooms, it won’t be long before you’re all up and about getting ready to explore Dartmoor and the surrounding area. Take a trip to Okehampton Castle (3 miles) and wander the ruins of Devon’s largest castle, or head to Meldon Reservoir (1.5 miles) to start the 4.5-mile Meldon Viaduct circular walk that follows the West Devon Way and the Granite Way.

The property, which has access to the surrounding grounds that include a children’s play area and a sauna (at additional charge), is spacious and welcoming. The open-plan living area is fresh and bright with stylish appliances in the kitchen, while sumptuous sofas in the lounge area beckon you to sink into them at the end of a long day of walking. Take a long soak in the hot tub on the rear decked patio after a delicious al fresco meal on the front terrace before heading to bed in the tranquil bedrooms. Wake up surrounded by soft, calming decor and take an invigorating shower to get you ready for the day.

Head to Lydford Gorge (8.5 miles) to experience the deepest natural gorge in the south west. You’ll also find a 30-metre waterfall and woodland sculptures hidden in the undergrowth, waiting to be sniffed out. Wander the grounds of Castle Drogo (16.5 miles), the final castle to be built in England, and wander the many trails and the formal gardens. To get little legs (furry and human) involved in experiencing Dartmoor National Park, take the Dartmoor Mystery Treasure Trail that starts in Tavistock (14 miles) and takes you on a 45-mile driving route with 2 miles of walking to answer clues.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.
