A wonderfully large and well-equipped property, here you have the ideal family base for an outdoorsy gang who are ready to wear themselves out in the Northumberland countryside. Comfortably sleeping ten, you can also bring three dogs with you – after all, it’d be rude to go on a walking holiday and leave them all at home!

The rooms in this farmhouse are a fusion of clean white walls and vintage wooden furniture pieces, making for a wonderful break from city life. The heart of the house is the traditional kitchen, which has a warming AGA that you’ll no doubt find three sleeping dogs curled up in front of come the evening. The snug, lounge and dining rooms also have wood burners, so there’s no risk of this house getting chilly throughout your stay. Before climbing into one of the decadent four-poster beds, be sure to take time out of your evening to sink into the free-standing, roll-top bath where you can completely unwind.

Overlooking the Catcleugh Reservoir, the property is yards away from beautiful countryside. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, you are mere miles away from iconic northern walks and hikes which are bound to exhaust even the bounciest four-legged family members. 4.5 miles away, you’ll find yourself at the stunning border of Scotland and England where you can walk in the Northumberland National Park and take in the scenery from both countries. Gear up for a midnight expedition, as this property lies in an area of protected night sky where you’ll find stunning stargazing opportunities, ideal for families who are taking a holiday away from a town or a city. Whilst the entire region is ideal for spotting the stars, Kielder Campsite (15 miles) is an especially good stargazing location.

We had a lovely 2 weeks at Catcleugh. The house is beautiful and Chris and Elizabeth could not have been more welcoming. Would definitely recommend this property.

Stayed here 9th-12th December 2020, three families with one dog. We all had a fabulous time, excellent farmhouse with everything you could possibly wish for or need during your stay. Farmhouse is of a very high standard, in every possible way. Current owner so very helpful with local information & history of place. Older teenagers loved the weekendRead more and had the best time!
