This thatched period home enjoys splendid gardens and its own swimming pool to enjoy and relax in after spending a day exploring the magical Norfolk Broads and beyond

This 1930s period detached home is full of traditional charm. Situated in Horning, a quiet village in Norfolk, the property is well placed for families who enjoy scenic walks in the countryside or by the coast. There are three bedrooms in the property, one double and two twins, making it suitable for six human family members and two well-behaved dogs. The owner has catered for everything, even ensuring there are plenty of inflatables in the pool house if you fancy a dip in the outdoor swimming pool.

Due to a maintenance issue the pool is not available in July 2020.

The property is neutrally decorated, but retains many of the period features typically found in a 1930s home. The cosy lounge has ample seating with two plump sofas and chairs available for you to snuggle on. Dogs may prefer to lay on the rugs by the open fire to warm their fluffy toes. The kitchen has all the facilities you’ll need to make a homecooked meal as well as a dishwasher to clean up your plates and doggy bowls afterwards. Light up the BBQ in the front or rear garden and enjoy a glass of wine or two outside as you watch the sun set over the beautiful Norfolk skies.

You and your family can dig for fossils or zip around the race tracks at the 85-acre Jurassic-themed Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure, just 19 miles away from the property. Sea and sand (we can’t guarantee the sun, sadly) can be found in Great Yarmouth, which is also home to child-friendly and white-knuckle rides at the famous Pleasure Beach. Pack a towel for your pooches so they can enjoy the sea in style.

We were disappointed upon arrival. The property is listed as quirky and old fashioned. That in itself is not a problem and we enjoyed that fact. However, the photographs belie the lack of maintenance and poor state of repair overall. As a house, it must have once been a very pleasant place to live. However, the gardens needed a good weeding and tidRead morey up and the house itself a thorough repair and redecoration. Hide

The house is a beautiful 1930's house set in wrap around gardens providing privacy and great access to local pubs etc. While for some it may seem dated, for us this added to the charm of the place and it does feel you are staying in a period house, we really enjoyed it. Bure house is a magnificent house on a large plot in an tremendous location but is just unloved. We loved the 1930/40 decor but it is in DESPERATE need of a deep clean, repair and paint. Areas are in a state of collapse and mouldy. The kitchen contents are basic and worn. The mats throughout the property are threadbare. The garden is overgrown, lawRead morens uncut and unkept and fencing down. Paving slabs loose and broken. The fence is not secure. It is just not a 3 star but could be made into 5! Hide
