A quirky and cosy newly renovated studio, ideally situated with the beach, canal, shops, pubs and restaurants all within walking distance, making this a perfect couples getaway.

This fantastic property, located 2.5 miles from dog-friendly Northcott Mouth Beach, is the perfect romantic getaway for two – plus the hound, of course! Sleeping the humans in a unique bespoke cabin bed and with a welcome pack supplied to you on arrival, this apartment also offers the opportunity to go on walks, discover nature and take part in some exciting activities. Join the South West Coast Path from the Pepper Pot (1 mile) which was built as a refuge for the coastguard, or try windsurfing or kayaking at Tamar Lakes Country Park (9 miles).

The property, which is designed in a bright and airy studio style, has everything you need for a couples’ retreat. The exposed brick wall next to the kitchen area makes it a delightful place to cook up a storm for your other half, while the comfy cuddle sofa is the ideal spot for snuggling up with your favourite film on the Smart TV as your pup snoozes by your feet. Climb the short ladder to bed and feel transported into a pretty seaside cabin for a tranquil night’s sleep.

Make sure you visit the cobbled streets of Clovelly village (17 miles) and pick up some trinkets and treasures from the shops to take home. The fantastic waterfall at St Nectan’s Glen (16.5 miles) is a wonderful sight and there’s lots of woodland to explore. If you’re a Daphne Du Maurier fan, take a trip to Jamaica Inn (25.5 miles) where there is a memorial for the author in the Smugglers’ Museum and every dog gets a treat! For a fun and unusual morning out, don your gnome hats and wander the woodland and wildflower gardens at the Gnome Reserve (14 miles) and see how many of the 70 gnomes and pixies you can spot.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Cottage was exceptionally clean with excellent food facilities provided. The washroom was of high quality too. I had a very comfortable week at Bude Retreat. The owners welcomed me on arrival, keen to make sure I had everything I needed, but gave me space and I hardly knew they were next door.
