Set in the beautiful and popular village of Cartmel and only six miles south of Lake Windermere, this delightful turn of the century cottage offers comfort, style and a beautiful location.

For couples or friends, including four-legged ones, this charming two-bedroom cottage set in the ancient village of Cartmel offers a luxurious base from which to explore the Lake District. Admire the architecture of the 12th-century priory as you stroll through the village to pick up some produce in the local shops or enjoy a drink in one of the dog-friendly pubs. Discover the natural beauty of Lake Windermere (6 miles) or hike up Helm Crag (24.5 miles) for spectacular views.

Tails will wag as you walk through the pretty front garden to reach your cosy cottage in the heart of Cartmel. After a day exploring the lakes, curl up on one of the comfy seats and enjoy the warmth from the wood burner with your hound snoozing at your feet. Prepare delicious dinners in the homely kitchen/diner where you will find another traditional wood burner. Upstairs are the two comfortable bedrooms, a king-size and a twin, along with the stylish shower room. Step through the French doors into your pretty courtyard garden where your pup can sniff out their favourite sunny spot as you enjoy an al fresco meal.

Spend the day at the races with your hound as your lucky charm at Cartmel Racecourse (1 mile) - the National Hunt’s smallest racecourse. Sample local craft beers at Unsworth’s Yard Brewery (150m), where you and your canine companion can discover how the beer is made and sample some in the tasting room. Sniff out your favourite walk through Eggerslack Woods (3 miles) where trails wind through the native trees and ferns. Further afield, explore the lake towns of Kendal (15.5 miles), Ulverston (13 miles) and Windermere (14 miles).

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

We enjoyed a lovely, relaxing break here. Cartmel is just lovely & an ideal base for walks. Property very clean , you wouldn't think dogs were allowed . Impressed with the Covid precautions too. Excellent location. Nice touch with the complimentary Prosecco too. Would love to return next year.

This was our second stay in this excellently located and well equipped cottage. The kitchen diner is particularly nice making cooking easy and sociable. Those familiar with Cartmel will already know what a special place it is; whether you are fine diners or keen walkers. Cottage lovely and comfortable and a great location. Cartmel has to be the prettiest village in the Lake District. The perfect place to base yourselves as the pubs and restaurants are great to visit after a day touring round the Lakes.

Comfortable and bright cottage in a lovely location. Well equipped, however we dined out each evening. Cartmel is lovely, and has lots of fine dining options and lovely independent shops. Would definitely recommend this cottage and location.

We had a v relaxing time in this beautiful cottage. Bed, sofas etc were all very comfy and the dog friendly, enclosed courtyard was well used during a week of mainly sunny weather. Brookside is a great holiday cottage, clean & tidy. The quality of the furniture/kitchen equipment was 5star. The beds were comfortable & there was plenty of hot water - the shower was fab. Would have been nice to receive a welcome hamper - the bottle of fizz was not great. Cartmel is a foody place, theyre missing a trick! Nothing else is supplied Read more- be sure to take all cooking condiments such as oil/ sauces. I was surprised that past guests havent left things for future guests! Hide
