Property code: 56025

This charming thatched cottage, situated in the peaceful village of Piddletrenthide just 7.5 miles from Dorchester, is ideal for a large family or group of friends – including the furry ones! Sleeping seven to eight across four welcoming bedrooms, it won’t be long before you’re off out exploring the beautiful landscape of the Piddle Valley. Take a trip to the coast to sniff out fossils on Chesil Beach (17 miles) before stopping for lunch in the nearby village of Abbotsbury (15.5 miles). Then, when it’s time to go home, relax in the garden watching the River Piddle quietly pass through the grounds.

The property, which is situated on a number of walking routes and cycleways, is cosy and comfortable with a mix of traditional and contemporary farmhouse character. Rustic wood tones and cosy furniture in the lounge make it a perfect bolt hole for curling up in front of the fire with the pups by your side. Upstairs, beautifully decorated bedrooms lull you into a peaceful slumber; each has its own appeal with thoughtful finishing touches. Wake up refreshed and head down to the terrace for an al fresco breakfast, listening to the unfenced river meandering through the garden and watching the children and hounds playing on the lawn.

You’re within 400 metres of the local pub that welcomes dogs, so a swift pint and a bite to eat is never far away. But if you want to venture further, Dorchester (7.5 miles) is a bustling town with plenty of cafes, pubs and restaurants to choose from. For a quieter walk, visit Athelhampton House and Gardens (7 miles), or wander the grounds of Lulworth Castle (22 miles). Nearby, Lulworth Cove (20 miles) is a stunning pebble beach with blue waters that the kids and dogs will love exploring.

This was our second time in Bridge Cottage and we loved it even more! A cosy home from home and the location brings peace and tranquility to the craziness of life. Beautiful village. Lovely, comfortable cottage. Well equipped, we wanted for nothing. Idyllic location by a stream. We especially enjoyed sitting in the summer house in the early evening listening to the birds and watching the pheasants. We only had a short stay (3 nights) but we wish it could have been longer. Recommend.

Beautiful thatched cottage in an idyllic rural location. Six of us had a wonderful time at Bridge cottage for the week, the cottage was clean , warm and so well equipped . The garden was ideal for our spaniel, enclosed with a stream passing through. Great cottage that just needs a few improvements to make it five star.

Lovely Cottage and good for relaxing. Nicely equipped and great for walks in the countryside. Shame that the two nearest pubs have been closed for sometime and that was not mentioned in the write up for the property, so you have to get in the car and travel to Piddle Hinton for a good pub (The Thimble). Would come and stay again.

Bridge Cottage is a charming cottage in an idyllic location. However, there were some specific weaknesses in the maintenance which we did not expect when paying such a relatively high rental price and which led to some problems for our family.
