Brayford cottage (also called Form cottage)is on a working farm in Old Byland. Signage showing where the cottages are when you get to the farm would be useful. Nearby Helmsley and Thirsk can supply most of your needs. The cottage is carpeted throughout which is pretty impractical as they are dog friendly cottages. Lovely little cottage, nice and warm and very quiet. Had to bring an extra dog at the last minute and the owners were wonderful. The only thing I would say is if you bring a dog, make sure you bring a sheet or extra towels for muddy/wet paws by the door as there is carpet throughout. Lovely, cosy stay, very peaceful and close to the lovely HelmsleyRead more with a co op, market, pubs, places to eat, scrummy bakers and deli. Clean and tidy with games to play of an evening. the cottage was bright, clean, warm and comfortable. There was a gated outside area for Peggotty our Border Terrier to sit outside which was safe. The location of the cottage was in a stunning location and close to the North Yorkshire National Park, Helmsley is not far away for shopping ect. We were there in term time so it was very quiet. f

Fantastic and quiet location with some lovely walks nearby and beautiful views. The cottage was on a working farm which was lovely to hear the animals. Location not far from beautiful Abbeys and Castles and the beautiful market town of Helmsley. Highly recommend staying at these holiday cottages.
