This sweet lodge is situated in the tiny hamlet of Welsh Newton Common, offering expansive views of the Black Mountains and the lush Wye Valley. The secluded property, set in the grounds of the owner’s home, is a haven away from it all, with an enclosed garden, croquet lawn and fenced paddock for both children and pets to let of steam. Ideal for large families - including the furry members – it has one double and two twin bedrooms capable of sleeping six. Two further sofa beds in the lounge provide additional sleeping arrangements for two children.
This single-storey quaint property is definitely one to unwind in. Start the day with an invigorating shower before planning the day ahead in the breakfast room with a filtered coffee. Perhaps you’ll catch a glimpse of the wildlife outside before enjoying a long stroll around the grounds; you’ll be serenaded by birdsong as you encounter squirrels and rabbits on your way. In the evening you can always curl up with a book in the comfortable sitting room or host a family BBQ outside in the garden. Just remember to put plenty of grub on for the pooches, too.
Just outside your property are walking and cycling trails - remember to take water and poop bags for the trek. The remains of the monastic Tintern Abbey are 15.5 miles away, offering wonderful photo opportunities and plenty of space to roam. For those looking for adventure, the Monmouth Activity Centre (6 miles) has a wide selection of rock climbing, canoeing and boating facilities.
