Set in a tranquil North Yorkshire village just seven miles from the coast, this handsome Grade II listed 17th century barn conversion is perfect for couples looking for a sophisticated rural retreat.

Head off on a holiday to Yorkshire with two very happy hounds accompanying you. This beautiful stone barn conversion at Ruston, which accommodates up to two guests, is the perfect place for your pampered pets. Take them on long walks through the picturesque North York Moors National Park; find trails through beautiful woodland, along meandering rivers and over verdant hills. Make your way home to prepare a romantic meal for two in your chic kitchen while your contented canines stretch out in front of a roaring wood burner.

Open the door to this former 17th-century barn with its vaulted ceiling, to find eye-catching, stylish accommodation. Admire the contrast between the exposed stone walls and contemporary features, such as the kitchen and mezzanine, while Rex and Rover pad about in the space offered by the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Light the wood burner and settle down to a DVD in here before dinner. Plan long walks to set tails wagging the next day. There’s a shower room at ground floor level, and then make your way up to your mezzanine bedroom which overlooks the living area, where there is another TV and a bath. Take your eager pups for a stroll in the morning, then sit out in the sunshine to enjoy coffee on the patio.

Head to the coast at Cayton Bay, 8.5 miles away, to let your furry friends play and bound on the sand all year round. Venture about 9 miles into North Riding Forest Park to explore magnificent Dalby Forest, where there is plenty of space for them to stretch their furry legs. Head further into the North York Moors National Park to the 30-foot Falling Foss waterfall, 19 miles away, where you can enjoy an enchanting 2-mile woodland walk and your pals can paddle in shallow waters along the way.

We can not recommend the cottage or our hosts enough - the inside was absolutely spotless and full of everything we just needed. We used it as a point to travel to areas around us and we loved it - never realised the North East was so gorgeous and we will definitely be back. Our cottage was ready for us, and you would never have known owners or dogRead mores ever stayed there - we all felt so comfortable and had every amenity going. Thank you again and we loved Wilson as well xx Hide

We enjoyed a wonderful few days at the barn, the owners were very welcoming and the little extras made a huge difference, we didnt expect to have all the condiments, bathroom toiletries and cleaning products The barn is absolutely beautiful and the photos are a very accurate representation of the cottage, the village is also very pretty.
