An appealing lodge with lots of thoughtful touches, countryside views, free golf, access to the coast, castles and major attractions nearby. It's the perfect holiday retreat for friends and families.

Elevated above the surrounding parkland overlooking a popular golf course, this lodge-style property is perfect for one waggy-tailed guest and up to four humans. Alnwick is a true gem in rural Northumberland, best known for its imposing castle and diverse landscape that encapsulates sandy beaches, unspoilt countryside and the rolling Cheviot Hills. With so many rabbits to sniff and sticks to chase, Fido will be dog tired at the end of a busy day, leaving you to stargaze with a glass of wine in hand.

The surrounding 180 acres of shared grounds are yours to explore, and you’ll be able to play as many rounds of golf as you please. Climb the steps leading from the driveway and relax with a coffee on the wrap-around balcony, basking in the views. Inside, the stylish living space is cleverly divided into an open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner for enjoying hearty meals and unwinding after a day filled with fun, and there’s even a flame-effect electric fire for cosy evenings. Both bedrooms have ample space for a dog basket and en-suite facilities, one of which is a handy Jack-and-Jill en-suite that opens onto the hallway.

Treat your sea dog to a scamper on the beach, navigating the sandy shores of dog-friendly beaches such as Amble Links, 10.5 miles away. Arrange a boat trip to admire the puffin colony on Coquet Island, catching glimpses of the old lighthouse and eerie monastery ruins as you go. At Low Hauxley (10 miles) there is a submerged prehistoric forest that can be seen when the tide is out, and the walk along the clifftops is perfect for inquisitive pups. For history seekers, the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle (14.5 miles) are steeped in myths and legends, welcoming furry visitors throughout the grounds and along the beach.

Ideal location from exploring the area. The static overlooks the golf course and it was nice to see the Deer wandering in the wood's. Useful veranda for our dog to sit out and be safe. Plenty of films/books if needed on a rainy day although we had lovely weather. A trip to the Holy island was very interesting. Plenty of shops 20 mins away.

A comfortable & well equipped lodge, in a pleasant position overlooking the golf course. In a good location for travel to the many tourist destinations Northumberland has to offer. The owner was particularly considerate in providing a travel cot & bedding for our baby grandaughter.
