This 350-year-old forge retreat in the village of Cucklington is full of character inside and out. Near Shaftesbury, find a great hideout for you and your hound to be treated to the most stunning green spaces, and far-reaching views of Blackmore Vale and beyond, all on the doorstep. Sleeping two plus one loyal four-legged family member who is welcome on the first floor, this idyllic base boasts incredible panoramic views. The dwelling is also set perfectly to spoil you for choice with tours of the best walking and cycling places around.

Hop up the short flight of steps and through the pretty barn door into the bright lounge/kitchen/diner, with unbeatable countryside views at every angle from its perfectly positioned windows. The character of the stonework and exposed beams balance perfectly with modern country living. This theme is continued throughout the pretty bedrooms downstairs, which consist of a king-size and a single bedroom. Completing the abode is a contemporary bathroom. Outside is ample seating with gorgeous views in a designated area on the periphery of the owner’s garden – perfect for winding down on a lazy evening.

Get the ball rolling with your bright-eyed barker and venture out into the Cranbourne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, 7 miles away. You are also within reaching distance of Stonehenge (27 miles), Cheddar Gorge (30 miles) and Longleat Safari Park (15 miles) for more adventure options. For salty sea dogs, make a day-trip to the south coast, with fabulous beaches at Bournemouth, Swanage, and Weymouth (all under 45 miles) to choose from. Beautiful views, with the layout making the most of the scenery. Light, warm and airy and perfectly situated for exploring the area.

We had a fantastic week at Babwell Barn. The views are simply stunning! Ben was really helpful in recommending suitable places for us to visit during our holiday. The sheep at the bottom of the beautiful garden was a particular hit with our young daughter.

Babwell Barn was a fantastic place to stay. We loved the beautiful dawn and sunset views from the property and garden. The property was absolutely perfect for our stay. Ben made us very welcome providing lots of useful information about the local amenities. The barn itself is well equipped, clean and spacious, we stayed with our 4 year old and 1 year old for whom Ben provided a cot. The location was perfect to allow us to travel to stone henge, Wookey hole, LongleaRead moret, stourhead and Lyme Regis. We would definitely visit again. Hide

Cottage very cosy with spectacular views from the living room. Lots of information on the local pubs and lots of varietys of walks from either the front door or short drive away. Cottage is well equipped wit.

Very peaceful property, with amazing views. All you needed was there. The property is modern and tastefully decorated. A good place to get away from it all. Really enjoyed our two week stay.

Babwell Barn is a converted farm building accessible directly from the road. It is located 2 miles off the A303 and 7 miles from Mere and Wincanton, and overlooks a stunning vale. Dorchester, Weymouth, Salisbury and Glastonbury are all within 45 mins. There are two hour dog walks from the door and more within a short drive.
