Take your dogs on a long walk back in time, to this incredible 14th-century property in the Wye Valley. Set in the village of Goodrich, it’s overlooked by the medieval Goodrich Castle, which gives you a fantastically atmospheric backdrop for your morning walk. And there’s lots of choice for that walk, with lovely riverside paths to be found right outside your front door. Venture just a little further and you’ll find almost endless trails to explore in the Wye Valley.

Inside, you’ll find plenty of space over three floors for both canines and humans in a property that’s packed with historic features. If you’ve ever wanted to pretend you’re lord of the manor, this might just be the place. There is a large lounge with a vaulted ceiling, wood burner and comfortable sofas to curl up on with your four-legged friends. There’s a separate kitchen/diner with impressive exposed stonework walls. There are also two comfortable bedrooms sleeping three in total, both with great views. Outside, there are spacious communal grounds where you can choose a picnic table and enjoy an al fresco meal.

The property is close to the centre of the village of Goodrich, which has a pub and shop. 3 miles away is the ancient hill fort of Symonds Yat Rock, which makes a great first dog walk when you arrive as you’ll get a fantastic view over the Wye Valley. The fort is close to a leisure park of the same name, which has lots of space to let the dogs run around and an adventure playground to keep the kids happy.

Quirky little apartment, fine for 2, good location with some walks from the door step plus only 10 mins to Ross on Wye and 30 mins to Hereford. As mentioned in other reviews, there is not much natural light in the lounge / kitchen space but we stayed over Xmas so shorter daylight hours anyway. Some noise from neighbouring apartments, but overall noRead moret an issue. 3rd bed is on open mezz above kitchen / lounge so might be noisy for anyone sleeping up there. Hide

Very historic building and a good balance of fabulous medieval walls and modern interior. Oozes history. On three floors. Very quirky. Dark in the main living room and kitchen as only skylights and little daylight, but lighting good. Double bed and bedding great and lots of daylight in double bedroom which has a view of the castle. Great place for a holiday. Lovely staff at Flanesford Priory. So easy to get to lots of interesting places to visit. We'd recommend Chepstow Castle, in addition to Symmonds Yat, East and West. Can also recommend The Inn on the Wye.

Stunning location, beautiful views, however no windows in property to look at views..downstairs bedroom did have window over looking renovations ( building site). Lots of bird nest with chicks under guttering wide awake on the early hours which kept dog awake.

Imposing property but our apartment was very dark having only two skylights. The living quarters are upstairs with one bedroom and bathroom downstairs, so a bit inconvenient. Would suit younger persons who are out until late or youll get cabin fever. Cant wash your hair without having a shower. Not enough cupboard space in the kitchen. Very clean tRead morehough and everyone is very friendly. Lots of grass for your dog to run on but needs recall as near road. Hide

Absolutely loved the quirky, priory-inspired furniture and breathtaking interior priory walls. Super-comfortable beds, excellent kitchenette, totally reliable plumbing / hot water etc. In all honesty, the carpet and the sofa had seen better days and needed replacing. But still a superb holiday in very comfortable and spotlessly clean surroundings. Read moreWe'll be back, I'm sure of it! Hide

The most atmospherical holiday let you will ever stay in! I loved all the original stone and church features. Nice and warm for such an old building and in a beautiful location with an extremely good cafe restaurant on site. Lovely hot shower, comfy bed and spotlessly clean.
