Visit the Beatrix Potter Gallery and the grammar school where William Wordsworth was once a pupil or head off on one of the many walking/cycling trails in the area. Explore Wray Castle on the shores of Lake Windermere, 3 miles away, or walk up to Claife Heights, 6 miles, for some spectacular views over the pristine waters. Take the ferry across or drive the 9 miles to Bowness-on-Windermere town where you can have a wander around or take a leisurely cruise on the lake itself.
