This pretty cottage, is in the seaside town of Appledore, is a perfect retreat for couples and small families alike.
This stylish cottage has a bright and contemporary feel with interesting and original features. It is located in the heart of Appledore, a thriving seaside village brimming with cafes, local art galleries, pubs and shops along pretty narrow lanes. The vibrant quayside is fabulous for ice creams and gentle evening strolls with your canine companion. A small family or a couple of friends with a dog will fit in here very comfortably.
The cottage has a light open-plan living area, divided by a few steps, with bi-fold doors opening out onto a lovely sociable space. The kitchen/diner has all you need to cook up a feast and the living room has a wood burner, perfect to curl up in front of in cooler months. The spacious family bathroom is also on this level. A Mediterranean-style, whitewashed courtyard with a BBQ invites you to dine outside in the evening sun, along with a treat and a belly rub to set the pup’s tail wagging. There is storage for surfboards and bikes so you can bring them along, and when you are ready to sleep, an authentic cottage-style staircase leads up to two relaxing bedrooms, both with pretty, nautical-inspired artwork.
The dog-friendly ferry across to Instow is a fun way to reach a beautiful beach. It welcomes dogs all year round at the top end, away from town. The long stretch of sands at Westward Ho! is less than two miles away and is perfect for surfing, building sandcastles and a fish and chip lunch. Here your fur baby can run, off-lead, and chase waves at designated ends of the beach. If you want to enjoy a coastal hike, join the South West Coast Path in Appledore for an almost 7-mile circular walk around Northam Burrows, passing one of Europe’s biggest former shipyards and an ancient Viking battleground.
