Explore the North Yorkshire Moors from this delightful granary that comfortably accommodates four people and two dogs. This gorgeous detached barn is situated in an idyllic countryside setting with plenty of dog walking and cycling routes through North Riding Forest Park just outside.

 

Original beams and characterful decor make this detached stone cottage a perfect English country getaway. Hard wood flooring throughout the ground floor makes it ideal for your canine companion, with plenty of room for him or her to curl up in their bed. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room allow plenty of light to flood in year-round. The outside area is next to a stream and has a seating area and BBQ, a peaceful spot to relax and dine alfresco while your dog winds down by your feet.

 

A pub is located opposite this cottage, so you don’t have to travel far to enjoy a home-cooked meal and sample the local ale. Within 3 miles, you can reach the charming village of Thornton le Dale, which boasts independent shops and dog friendly cafes and pubs. From here, you can head down paths that take you through the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and Dalby Forest. The market town of Helmsley is 18 miles away, a great day out for your four-legged friend as not only is this ideally situated for more walks, but many of the shops and eateries in the town welcome dogs. 18.5 miles south of the property is Castle Howard, one of Britain’s finest stately homes.

Lovely location and spotlessly clean. A huge amount to see and do nearby with the most amazing pub right opposite. Wifi low speed which might mean those with teenagers might struggle, but overall really enjoyed our stay.

The property was spotlessly clean. It was warm and cosy and Mel made us very welcome. We have never received such a super selection of food on our arrival!!! The location is lovely with easy access to the coast or picturesque villages. We will definitely return. Deb Bond

We chose this property for its modern interior and the fact that it could accommodate our two dogs. The owners were very welcoming, the property very well appointed with the extra bonus o a large area at the back where the dogs could also run around in safety. A wonderful stay despite storm Babet!

We have had the loveliest stay at Allerston Granary. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Gary and Mel were lovely and couldnt be more friendly and helpful. The welcome pack was brilliant and a lovely touch. Such an idyllic location. It was perfect for our dog to wander around safely and sniff. Can't fault the cleanliness. Very well equipped kitchen with everything I could have wanted. Lovely to have an arrival pack of essentials such as bread, butter and fantastic, fresh eggs from the resident hens. One thing to be aware of is that the cottage backs on to the main road from Scarborough to Pickering with some traffic noise.

Loved the barn. A bigger fridge would have suited us as we self catered most of the time and struggled a bit to store our food especially as we were in the middle of a heat wave! We would have liked bigger towels although the 2 ensuites were very good. Overall a lovely place to stay with fresh eggs included.

A Well equipped and comfortable property in a beautiful location. The little welcoming bits left in kitchen by the owners is a lovely touch, and very welcomed. The pub across the road is very handy for food and drink, but unfortunately it is not dog friendly but there are other pubs that are just a short drive away.

Lovely warm barn conversion well equipped and have fantastic owners. Mel was very accommodating and great to chat to. Great day in Whitby with the kids. Food at the Grapes - about a mile away was good value and tasty. If it has availability - grab it, you wont be disappointed.

We had a great time at the Granary over the New Year period. The owner, Mel, was more than helpful and quickly resolved an issue we had with the heating/hot water. The cottage and location provide a nice relaxing environment particularly when sitting in the courtyard listening to the fast flowing brook and other country sounds.

Allerston Granary is ideally situated for exploring the North York Moors. The cottage is comfortable and has everything needed for your stay and Mel and Garry are there, should they be required. It was lovely to have a welcome pack of fresh eggs (from the hens), butter, bread and milk.

We had an excellent holiday at this property. It is very clean and well equipped. It is in a great location for exploring the local area. The owners were very welcoming and kindly left a welcome pack for when we arrived, including eggs from their own chickens. We would certainly stay here again.
