This cute 18th-century cottage, tucked away in a quiet courtyard close to the centre of the cathedral city of Wells, is a haven of rest, relaxation and rejuvenation. Sleeping three guests across two comfortable bedrooms, this property is ideal for a couple or a small family looking for a Somerset adventure that they can take two four-legged friends on. Packed with quirky period features and modern furnishings, this cosy cottage is the perfect blend of old and new and a picture-perfect place from which to enjoy everything this wonderful part of the country.

Stepping through the pretty wooden door into the lounge/dining area, the first thing you’ll notice is the exposed brick fire surround and wood burner, which gives the room with a warm glow on even the chilliest of evenings. Soft sofas and furnishings complement the rustic feel of this room, with a huge wooden ceiling beam adding some character charm. In the kitchen, you’ll find the original copper washbowl – a fascinating glimpse into the history of the cottage. Climbing up the steep cottage stairs you’ll reach two bedrooms, the first being a good-sized double and the second a comfortable single room. Outside, Fido will love exploring the shared lawn area and courtyard garden.

Although it’s known as England’s smallest city, Wells has an awful lot to offer visitors to the area. The Cathedral is less than 500 metres’ walk from the front door and is perhaps one of the most beautiful of all the great English cathedrals. Cheddar Gorge (12 miles) is another fantastic and canine-friendly day out, with a cliff-top walk offering unrivalled views of the surrounding landscape. Berrow beach is a 19-mile drive from the property and welcomes dogs every day of the year.

Really cozy little cottage in a convenient location, close to the centre of Wells. Thoughtful gifts on arrival were a particularly nice touch.

My wife, cavapoo Millie and myself enjoyed a wonderful week in Wells. The cottage was lovely and equipped with everything you would need. Wells itself is a beautiful place and there are lots of places to visit within easy reach. We were lucky enough to be there whilst the food festival took place which was an added bonus and the weather was lovely Read moreso couldn't ask for more. The only downside was the stairs are quite steep so don't book if you have walking difficulties. Hide

A very well equipped cottage in a fantastic location just up from the rear end of the cathedral. We had a great holiday enjoying the sights of Wells and also cycling on both the Levels and the Mendips. There is so much to do in the area, and this was a great base that suited us extremely well. The walk from the cottage into the city each day never Read morestopped being an uplifting experience. Hide

Wells is a beautiful City and this Cottage is well placed to go exploring. A truly wonderful cottage to stay at. Parking in the road can be a bit of a problem, but even the owner has taken the time to recommend a place around the corner 2 minutes away, those touches make a difference. Just beware if your over 6 foot tall to duck under doorways. ( I forgot a couple of times. ) Having said that I would go back again.

Parking is a real problem especially for less mobile guests. Also, the stairs are very steep and again many elderly people may have problems.
